Use a bonding agent on the surface first. Then add in 2 part sand 1 part cement.
Lay tape on ground to square off the repair area. Then dampen the repair area and apply product. Smoothen it out using trowel. Finish with sponge 🧽 .
You just forgot bonding
ОтветитьYears of experience with this ones. They ALWAYS recrack. Just seal the little cracks aroun the concrete chip with sealant and broadcast sand over it. Keep the patch flexible. In order for the concrete patch to work, you would have to eliminate all friction of the wood, rebar or next slab. Otherwise you have to cutout a bigger piece, ad rebar and install real concrete with big aggregate.
ОтветитьProbably the best patch for longevity is
-to clean the existing concrete with some water, vacuum loose debris
-use concrete bonder and brush on the existing clean area: this acts as a glue between the new and old concrete
-lastly would be add a few concrete screws and drive them into the existing concrete, so when the new patch is poured the screws will be driving into the existing concrete as well. OR if the patch is big enough, drill out holes big enough to use some small pieces of rebar.
It’s a lot of extra steps, but for longevity it’s worth it.
Looks great
ОтветитьHow did we find the good comment section? Amazing!
ОтветитьWhere's the adhesive
ОтветитьYes
ОтветитьNice job!
ОтветитьYou should put 1 or to nail attached in the concrete to create armature . It will last longer
ОтветитьI am not a professional either. All i would have done different is use a adhesive paint before adding the quickcrete fast setting that was it would bond together and not fall out later. It looked good , but unfortunately it won't last . You done good though with what you had.
ОтветитьHow much did you charge for something like this? Just a general range would be fine
ОтветитьTerrible… just a waste of time, way to wet, no binder, didn’t clean the area. Need I continue
ОтветитьSo basically you just used Portland c3ment
ОтветитьShould have also used a cement bonding adhesive so it doesn't crack / chip away again.
ОтветитьYou shouldve done two things from my humble experience:
1. Cut a rectangle a little to distribute the load later on.
2. Binding agent.
You Should have used a bonding agent to bond the new concrete to the old
ОтветитьWhy it dark
ОтветитьI watch a vid, they put little Stones,Walter with adhesive and of course concrete.😁
ОтветитьThinset has binding agents and elastomers to grip and flex
ОтветитьConcrete is like dehydrated stone therefore apply a bonding agent beforehand to the concrete gives the cement something to stick onto.
Otherwise spray the area where the new cement will be applied with a bit of water.
This helps the cement that will shrink slightly as it’s drying to adhere to the water molecules as the cement gets harder.
I'm not in the US, but isn't Quickcrete just a brand name? They sell all sorts of different mixes, and most of them probably aren't actually quick-setting. If you just grab the first bag you see with the Quickcrete logo on it you might have a bad time.
ОтветитьPut duck tape around it best you can and when peel it up it will look like a “bandaid” even if its not perfectly square looks better then that. Also if gonna smeae it that big and make eye sore use color hardner!
ОтветитьThat will be 500$ mam 😂
ОтветитьWhat does cement you're gonna coat first
Ответитьlike some people said make sure you add glue bonding agent to the crack before you pour also to make the edge look nicer use an edging tool and use a trowel to smooth out the surface and work it in because it has to be smooth finish like the rest of the garage
Ответитьthis is going to crack again haha
ОтветитьThis comment section is like a conundrum, I'm loving it!
ОтветитьSour cream and yogurt consistency is the best advice I ever got regarding mixing mud
ОтветитьAnother tip is to add some acrylic glue after cleaning the area where concrete will be repaired that way you will get better adhesion
ОтветитьNo rebar?
ОтветитьThere is a chemical you are supposed to treat the area of concrete with you wanna patch it's supposed to make it stick good otherwise it just ends as a waste.
ОтветитьThis is like putting a block of concrete on top of another block of concrete. You need bonding agent to act like a glue.
ОтветитьYou'r mistake is you should moisten the existing cement after cleaning it out concrete adhesive helps too.imho
ОтветитьLooks great i have done it with self leveling caulking big one, since it is a cold joint ,some said drilling thats fine but drill bits wear out and sometimes drilling thru concrete is hard or not recommended if post tension. So caulking and epoxy paint upgraded and more work nice finish 😊
ОтветитьNever stay latch is always a patch
Ответитьthat is an expansion joint. nice job.
ОтветитьIt still will pop out during the next freeze.
ОтветитьNext time make sure to add cement bonding
ОтветитьRemove all dust and debris from the chipped piece and the void then use Krazy glue on the chipped piece, place in the void and press down firmly. Thank me later.
ОтветитьShould've painted hole with concrete polymer bonding agent aka milk ..and mix a little in cement too but at minimum paint the exisiting concrete of the hole receiving the new concrete ... Sika 1000 is great also
ОтветитьUse tape for the endges to remove easier
ОтветитьI want to know what happened with the real jalapeño
ОтветитьDamn bro, looks like you should eat out less often yourself.
ОтветитьPortland
ОтветитьAs a concrete guy...it's interesting the crack was located abutting the expansion joint. Most likely improper installation and cracking will continue to occur near the joint. This can happen when expansion joints are set in wet Concrete (meaning the contractor was lazy) instead of pouring a section, letting it dry then return the next day to nail expansion joint to side face of new concrete then pour again
ОтветитьNever gon look at sour cream the same 😊
ОтветитьNot a quality repair... But you can fool the homeowner into thinking so long enough for the check to clear. It's gonna look very bad compared to the rest of the nice trowled concrete.
Ответить"cautious when driving into the garage"...as apposed to doing donuts and hoping the front end?
ОтветитьOne solution is to not use superglue and ramen
Ответить
