I learn whole sentences saying them aloud. 5 days - 300 repetitions per day at least. Later I don't need to translate. I know the meaning of words straight away like in my native language. And also I remember the meaning longer than by learning separate words. This method is called: chunking. It was a real game changer in my learning process and communication skills in English and other languages.😊
ОтветитьHere's my strategy. I've learnt english with the Raymond Murphy books. This is the rudiments, so that it will turn things easier. And for each sentence, to learn how to pronouce I use the Google Translate, there other plenty of options, but I've pick this one. And off couse, GPT.
Ответитьi LIKE A LOT AND IT IS EXTREMELY USEFUL FOR PEOPLE THAT DON´T HAVE english as a first language.
ОтветитьFirst I want to say thank you Luce for this podcast, I like it😊 and about the best way to learn english or any other language on my opinion it's important to fell in love with a language by practicing speaking skill and 2 point to be perstent in your learning (spend 1 or 2 hours for learning language each day) and 3 pont connect your exprience with learning. I thing it's the best way to know second language. Thank you for podcast again😍
ОтветитьI am interested in language learning and what improved my english journey was read and listen at the same time. I am very visual and now my goal is learn more grammar.
Thanks Luke for this episode.
How come I didn't know about this channel 😅🎉
ОтветитьOk, I am Brazilian, and I've been learning many different things with you. Thanks a lot!
ОтветитьMy daily routine for learning English is:
1 - Identify 10 new words (in music, texts, e-mails, etc);
2- Find, using the online dictionaries, phrases with these words (plus 1);
3- Put these phrases in the app ANKI;
4 - And at least 1 hour of listening.
My English is very basic yet. However, I can perceive some progress in my studies. God lock for all English learners.
always good thanl you
ОтветитьThere is no answear, in my opinion, to the question of " the best way to.learn a languague". Nothing ha😊s changed since i enrolled in a language school: It requires practcing and time: reading, looking up in the dictionary, having your pronunciation corrected by a teacher, listening and comprehension, etc. If you are lucky and have native speakers _ friends_ to practise with, much the better. And If you can spend a year abroad taking lessons in a local school, this is the ideal. Internet has helped but you must have willpower.
ОтветитьA useful explanation. Thx forsharing it with us.
ОтветитьThat was amazing! Thank you, Luke.
ОтветитьHi, un mine opinión it IS a good podcast. As I cannot hear properly my priority IS hearing and speaking.
ОтветитьI've end up being among those the blessed who have a knack for learning a language. I finished school with a poor A2 level and returned back to studying almost at 40. Being passionate about this global language, I've managed to successfully complete courses B1,B2 and confirmed the level by IELTS EXAM. Of course, age matters, memory doesn't work like it used to work in my 20 s, yet learning new things are immensely rewarding. Owing to knowing English I've altered my career dramatically and become a teacher of English, possessing freedom of working from home and being in a high demand. Good luck with everyone's language journey. Greetings from Ukraine. 💙💛
ОтветитьArticle awesome 👌 thank you source 😀 lm precious to you 🎉from the Kiev

在2016年我到西安去旅行。 有很多好的回忆
I think it’s very important to use the four skills ( listening,reading,writing and speaking) , especially in the beginning,but we need to be aware about what specific skill that we need at this point of our journey of learning another language..especially if we achieve a certain goal that needs this skill.
That’s my opinion and thank you for this informations and advices you share with us 👍
Thank you so much Luke! It's great to hear something that I can truly relate in terms of SLA. Can't agree more that learning SL is a journey of discovering oneself.
Ответитьthat has nothing to do with research. Those are philosophical thoughts about studying English. Research shows the more attention you pay, the more you know, can do, etc. The most effective way is retrieval.
ОтветитьHi Luke. I started learning English by myself when I was 30 years old. At the beginning, I studied grammar, and small readings. Latter, when the audiobooks came out, I started listening to them and I'm still doing it. I have been learning it for fun.
I speak Spanish and have learned portuguese. As in English, I have used the same method for learning Portuguese. Currently, I'm 71 years old, and I have been learning French for 3 years now. Since the arrival of the internet, the learning of a foreign language has became easier because I can use all the resources such as postscast, like yours which are very interesting, and I appreciate them a lot. Also audiobooks, music, news reports, among many others.
In my opinion and according to my experience, I can say that listening and repeating have played an important part in my learning of the foreign languages. Currently, I enjoy reading English, Portuguese, Spanish and French literatura. I believe there's no age to learn.
Thank you!
ОтветитьHello, I am looking for a language exchange partner to study English seriously., and I can teach Russian language by Skype

ОтветитьThanks for going through this article with us. I need to catch up with the whole article but the summary looks fascinating - thanks for that AI! The conclusion I've come to with language learning is that everything works - every method, resource etc has the potential to work. I guess this comes back to the second point about finding a method that works for you as opposed to following the trends. Some people have even had great results with uncool methods like grammar-translation. Looking at the points though, I feel like language learning requires a lot of time, patience and effort and that's not the message that people want to hear!
ОтветитьThanks for your useful video!!
ОтветитьIs that a picture of the Beatles back there?
ОтветитьPeople see language learning as something that happens in a vacuum and has finite beginning and end points. The truth is, if you stick with a languages, it encompasses years of your life and becomes part of your identity.
ОтветитьI am reading a book called From Republic to Empire by W.W. Tarn. And he uses a lenguage very dificult to understand!!
ОтветитьHi.

ОтветитьHi Luke, greating from Somalia I'm actually a new subscriber on this channel and I will stick with your Chanel until I become a better speaker. English language.. I'm gonna beat around the corner, you're a great teacher that I have been looking for almost a year and and now I finally found you. I will share the link some of my friends who are really serious in learning English language they will be here in no time. Thank you so much for your services.
ОтветитьI enjoy what you do in this podcast!
ОтветитьHi! Your way of presenting things is great! Thanks!
ОтветитьNear native pronunciation, good, but I found that if I am too good at pronunciate, I have to be really good all over. If I present vocaly as a native, they treat me as a native and talk fast and incomprehensible. That is horrible for someone not that good in all the other areas in conversation. Oh, the horror! It is HARD to live up to....
ОтветитьWhat works better for me is the comprehensive input and the SRS. 🙌🏼
Anyway, thanks a million for this podcast, Lucke!!! 🙏🏻
I think you become CONTAMINATED with the language of the area where you were happen to be, even shortly😊
