This game literally taught me filmmaking and editing. It should be used to storyboard for movies 😂. They really should remake this especially with AI these days. Now am I remembering correctly didnt they have references to the fake movies on Seinfeld or did I see someone make the movies within this game on Reddit one day or something?

i don't like this game because tutorial still continues after tutorial in "new game" mode
i want want to do things "my way", if you know what it means, without those constant information bubbles, in right corner of the screen

Blockbuster Inc. Is a new game that has taken a lot of inspiration from this and is planned to release in 2023

We now have BLOCKBUSTER INC. I don’t think it will be as good , but I’m glad someone is taking a stab at it

The Movies and the Sims 2 are the two only games that basically formed my childhood. Oh the hundreds of hours I spent replaying The Movies over and over again, good memories. Really is one rare gem of a game, I wish more people would know about it. It's so fun, intuitive, immersive and the art direction for that time of the 2000s was really good.

This was a game that tried to be 2 different things. A tycoon game and a creative tool.
The tycoon part was good giving you a multifaceted job which required various stragies and planing to get it right.
But I found the movie making part to be constantly frustrating to my creativity as the game didn't have the sets, props, costumes and mostly the animations I needed for my vision.
As a business game I'd say this was worth the money. As a creative tool, I'd say you'd be better off spending that money on a camera and doing a sweeded film.

This game could be popular again If someone holds a contest and It gets quite the attention, people still make Windows 3D Movie Maker these days so why not The Movies?

I wanted this game so bad but never got to play it.

As a movie geek as a child, this game was a dream come true. What a shame niche games like this aren't still being created.

Holy crap! This is the kind of game I LOVED back in 2005 ish era. I never bought it... or I guess asked for, because I just thought it was a movie quiz game. Time to pick this up I guess

yeaaah, the game was great. I remember making movies by it, and being fascinated by other people's creations.

I use to play this every day for hours and hated being in school nervous and anxious to go home thinking about all I wanted to create in this game <3

I remember seeing this sold in physical stores back in the day. Never understood the point of it, but to be fair, i never even tried it. After watching this video, I'm itching to though. Too bad it's not sold online (at least, not that i know, I'll have to check), and that the online community was shut down.

I remember getting the character creator disc in a PC Gamer magazine subscription and loved this game when it came out. To this day sometimes I still think about the traffic outside of the studio how there would just randomly be a ton of the same vehicle lined up.

It’s funny, I’m watching this on the official second day of fall 6 years in the future from when this video went up. I always binge watch LGR when I’m sad about things. Clint, thank you for the years of amazing content that has brought me peace and joy all of the time, but especially when I really need it. Thank you kind sir for what you do and all that you put into it.

Love the game....miss it. I won $1000 from a contest they had.

This game deserves a remake more than anything

but in the future i hope they will release this in the PS4 or the PS5

Well I,m thinking if someone could that could make a spiritual successor to the game as there alot of feature that could be added or improved apon

LionHead Loves making games that would be hard to find based off their name alone holy moly. "The Movies"?!

So can anyone get this game working properly on Windows 10?

Installed the game + expansion,
applied the noCD Patch (DRM causes crashed on Win10),
patched the 4GB patch

Game launches fine. But it crashes as soon as the first awards Ceremony starts. Cannot get any further

Wish this game would get a remake - although its still awesome playable today.

Can't easily access Menus 'cause the Developer found a more 'intuitive' Method. A classical Molyneux... According to Google, Stefan Malyneux is more relevant than Peter Molyneux. Just wanna be able to state that. Otherwise... Yeah, Game's great. One of few Molyneux Games than ain't a complete failure. Except for the Bullfrog Years, of course.
