Why don't the Western leaders speak mandarin directly to the Chinese people in China, so that they can be understood better? Tell Trump to speak hokkien to my father. He only knows hokkien. Address it directly to my father.

China are super efficient especially Asia people
China is the biggest ever economy but never ever invest in China... Unless China willing to change their Government if not not matter what

Is run by unfair people with power money over law...
CCP control all over China there is no fairness openness

Don't ever invest untill their government changed giving power to the people
Foreign investor are fleeing now and next 30years China economy will not raise again

China government already broke due to covid locked down unnecessary waste of resources making them real broke

They are now very insecure of foreigners targeting them as spies from West have to report to police

Government due to lack of fund what they did is claw back citizens tax those default tax must pay back cooperate had been fined billions of dollar for accusing them of tax fault

Bankers have to pay back their bonuses claw back from 2020 to 2023 this stance is so ridiculous!

Befriend with USA you will be richer
Against USA will only lead you poorer 😂

Will you allow your leader on media openly declare false economy data?? Still growth at 5%??? 😂 As in leader faking financial data yet can lead China??

Anyone who is sincerely interested in China's on-ground reality, just need to travel to a few tier 2,3,4 cities and visit the shopping malls & popular restaurants. Talk to Didi drivers. Go beyond western report if the report writers have zero ground experience. Many are just regurgitating headlines in their echo chamber , providing simplistic & populist answers 😂

Someone who is trying to split a country is supported by foreign powers. In this situation, they still claim to not be respected in international public forums. Can any country allow open secession? Would the United States allow California to become independent?

I find it interesting that Chan Heng Chee gauges economic heft based on GDP in nominal terms. PPP is clearly a better indicator of economic vitality. This is especially so given recent US rate hikes, which buoyed the dollar and hence inflated the US' nominal GDP.

That said, she still provides a more balanced view point than Selina, who pretty much just parrots western narratives - even going so far as to speak unironically about memes like the "social credit system". She will need to undergo deradicalization sooner rather than later.

Apart from that, Li's lamentations for China's free-wheeling era and the seeming disregard across the panel for China's long-term plans bodes ill for Singapore: thing is, it's clear that China is trying to avoid extreme inequality - they've seen the detrimental effects it's had on western societies. For example, they are popping the property bubble because they understand that if you price out youngsters, you'll end up with far greater problems like people not settling down and starting families, which we see across western cities and in Singapore. That Singaporean elites don't recognize the value in what China is doing portends continued neoliberalism and hence societal decay in Singapore.

Every nation suffered badly from the detrimental effect of COVID 19. Whether a nation can bounce back and does well is determined by the foresight and will of it's political leadership, its population's resilience, unity, technological and production competence. China has all that and China will come back even stronger than before..

What is so shocking? This idea or concept of China's rise being "shocking" perturbs me, smacks of "arrogance"?
It is only logical that China, like any country that is rational, strives to move itself up the value chain and bring its population prosperity. To me it is pure economics and geopolitical. Inadvertently, the incumbent will feel threatened. After hearing the entire programme, I still do not hear anything that I consider "shocking".
I agree with Singapore's role made by Heng Chee and her view that the US and the rest who view China as an adversary also need to build confidence measures, this goes both ways.
Overall, a good session.

I am pretty surprise by Chan's comment which basically just followed the same Western's narrative about Xinjiang human right abuses. If there is really human right abuses (not including the separatists which any country will not tolerate if within the country such group exisits) then how do u explain why Xinjiang can do so well so far ? There are no real evidences of human right abuses of muslims in Xinjiang and if there really is how is it possible that China's relationship with other muslim countries like Malaysia, Indonesian and many middle east countries are so good and how China was able to bring together Iran and Saudi Arab decades of conflicts ?

Politically correct is what western politicians and scholars have to continue in order to thrive or survive. Anyone who believes otherwise would face serious consequences. This is like last Cold War between US and USSR, it would not stop till one party admitted defeat, this is unfortunate but reality.

It is interesting to note that a comparison was made with the Indian community. Though the colonization of India is a factor but the phycology of Indian community is definitely very different from that of the Chinese. They seem to very very good at managing an on-going organization but they hardly want to start a organization from the bottom.

1. I will not replace Hong Kong by Singapore … who will believe any Singaporean saying it. Also it is up to Singapore and Hong Kong.

Hence I am not sure how to learn from USA or china saying, especially for some still wolf like speech.

No one want war. But it is up to people who talk.

2. G2 is never stable. The original idea is that democracy never fight real wars with another democracy. But china democracy?

Also strange the war start European war. Great power even if only two does not work anymore. Ask Israel.

3.

4. It is not America no 1 or not. The key is if Russia is no 2 … if … imagine will USA ask Taiwan to go to war. It did in the past but it was rejected. Hence it is not unimaginable. Hence if china like putin goes to war who can stop it. To repeat who car who is no 1 it is not us. But the key is please no war. Any what is what more likely to have a hot war in pacific place if …

These (mostly western) ivory tower scholars keep saying that the Chinese economy is in trouble and tanking. Are they staying in China? When is the last time they go to China? And for how long did they stay there? Who did they talk to, interact with?

The Chinese officials, do they have incentives to debunk the western narratives? Silence from the official sources may not necessarily mean acquiescence, but quite often only meant that such narratives suited the purpose of the accused.

I suggest you walk the streets of the first, second, third, fourth tier provinces to get a feel for yourself. My personal experience is that for the common person on the street, things are normal. People are still spending. Short term confidence may be low, but long term confidence is at an all-time high. But don't take my word for it, walk the streets yourself.

I'm not interested in winning arguments. I'm only interested in truths, because that will increase my chances of making the right decisions. If you have views contrary to mine, please feel free to debunk me.
