There are slight variations to gumbo but this is not even close. No part of this resembles any basic part of gumbo either. (Except the attempt at roux).
Obviously, you don’t know how but are fleecing others who don’t either and watch to learn new things, like me. Disrespecting a dish and a culture it is associated with because you didn’t care to get informed about gumbo. How many of the other videos are bogus?
This is a false (recipe). At least rename this video so that no one is misinformed or delete it.
I made this tonight and it was nothing short of amazing. My family loved it as well. Thanks for the good recipe.

ОтветитьMy only rule is gumbo must have okra in it or its not gumbo. Gumbo in the west african language literally means okra. Idgf about land and sea mixture. Gumbo requires okra moment you said you didnt use okra in the first minute i left this comment, disliked the video and left.

ОтветитьFirst gumbo I ever made was from chef Issac Toups he didn’t go into measurements and I just eyeballed it based off how much I thought he put in and let me tell you I have never made anything so damn good before it went well with some white rice your interpretation of the recipe sounds and looks amazing wish I could eat shell fish but my gout would kick my ass 😂

ОтветитьMy great-aunt and my grandfather made gumbo. My aunt made a red roux and my grandfather made a brown roux. They were both delicious. No MSG used. Both of them were from Texas.

Ответитьyou're wrong about okra... if you cook it long enough the sliminess disappears and it adds volume and thickness to the stock. the file powder is only effective if you mix it in right before you serve it.
