something odd is happening in NBA that when those players play against FIBA rules, they look absolutely lost. Suddenly they don’t know how to deploy all their quality and skill on the court. Obviously when you play against hand checking, more physicality, no 3sec defensive paint rule, no free of movement rule, no 3p no touch rule, or no ball carrying, things become harder.

One game is not a general rule. But the main probe to double check all of this is when modern NBA players play under international rules that are very similar to NBA 90s rules. You can see them totally lost, no flashy game, even nothing to do with modern 3p NBA percentages. They are incapable to defend best teams and deploy their NBA pace.

This is insanely dumb, this so called insane offense got smoked in FIBA, bring back hand check, shooter close out and physicality and we'll see. Everyone looks pretty on an ugly surrounding, 🤦🤦🤦

this offense the kings have with an added amazing shooter and off ball king in venzenkov who could also maybe play small ball 5 is going to kill nba defenses. 55 wins coming and one of the best offenses in nba history, too many people to guard on one team.

So it's not bad defense bc it's actually terrible defense? Gottit. Almost everything you've shown is just terrible defensive awareness and no effort, mixed with very bad defensive ability and IQ. Letting your man get away from you just bc you are lazy and don't know that they can score the ball if left wide open is not great offense, but vomitively atrocious defense

Its not bad defense. Refs relaxed what's considered a legal screen like in they relaxed the rules on legal dribbles in the 70s. Combine that with better shooters, more 3s, less defenders packing the paint and more substitutions, you basically got an offensive explosion in the league without the defense getting any worse.

Boomers will say that the defense is watered down in today's NBA. But, I think it's because the players in general have become way better than before.

If rules evolved to make basketball unwatchable, then they should evolve the rules back to the 90's. But if the rules have stayed the same and basketball players are just way better at offense....then basketball is toast. I preferred the low scoring, hard fouls, etc. Ticket sales probobly started to tank because they stopped playing their awesome theme song

Insane scores like this show why the quality of the NBA's product has been going downhill for years. It's not just offensive savvy and good shooting, although that is a part of it. But it's also the way the rules are massively tilted to protect offensive players these days. The player with the ball is allowed to travel, palm, and push off pretty much whenever they want. The league is starting to get better about flopping and contact seeking at least, but it's got a long, long way to go before there is parity between offense and defense again.

also i think another part is the new take foul penalty. Up until this year, teams that were slow to get back would just take that foul and reset. But now teams give up a historic (I think this season is highest avg fastbreak points ever???) amount of fastbreak and transition points and pushing the ball up faster. This also leads to defenses not being able to get set into their preferred half court matchups and teams exploiting it. Offenses are aware of this too and pushing the ball up a lot faster than years previous

What do you think the NBA does in order to slow down the offensive production because as time goes by, players are just gonna be more and more skilled. Do they remove corner 3s? Bring back hand checking? Remove the 3 second rule? Something has to be done because if it isnt, games like these will become the norm

This video is brilliant, it just shows how ridiculous NBA offenses are in today's game. The whole concept some people have that there is 0 defense being played is just wild to me. NBA players are so much more skilled now than ever before, both in terms of the top players in the league and just the number of players able to create shots for themselves. There's only so much a defense can do. I would argue that Paul George is a better player than Larry BIrd. Is Bird a greater player? Absolutely but talking in terms of pure skill PG absolutely clears. PG can defend, dribble, pass and shoot far better than Bird.
