Is Russia Headed for Revolution? Economist Reveals Disturbing Signs

Russia says everything is under control.
But the numbers tell a different story.

Inflation is accelerating. Industrial output is shrinking. Foreign reserves are frozen. Central Bank interest rates locked at a crushing 21%, real investment is evaporating, and new sanctions could bring the Russian economy to its knees.

Despite the Kremlin’s propaganda, Russia’s economy is buckling under the weight of war, sanctions, and decades of mismanagement. And now, we may be approaching a tipping point—not just economically, but socially and politically.

In this special analysis, we explore:
- Why the impending US sanctions on Russia's partners are a game changer
- Why Russia’s current inflation is far worse than reported
- How collapsing industries could trigger a cascade of layoffs and regional unrest
- Why Putin’s “economic stability” narrative is unraveling under scrutiny
- And what comes next if this fragile system breaks

To break it down, we’re joined by Prof. Volodymyr Lugovskyy—a Ukraine-born economist, PhD from Purdue, and current Chair of the Economics Department at Indiana University. With multiple publications in the American Economic Review, European Economic Review, and Journal of Financial Economics, Prof. Lugovskyy brings data, expertise, and a warning: Russia is playing with fire.

Russia has had 2 consecutive years of GDP growth in excess of 4%. Compare that to the G7

Great conversation. Russia continues to lie about their economy (as well as anything else for that matter). They are spending all their money on war which has no value in the long run as the life span is minimal. Why don’t they spend their money on roads, hospitals, civilian infrastructure- in other words money for the people. Russians know that Putin and his minions have stolen their riches but do nothing about it. What a pathetic country who has stolen anything they claim to have. Only the rich in main cities do okay but of course everyone is corrupt.

The 500% tariffs on countries that buy Russian products will be a test of loyalty to the shift away from the US and the dollar in world economy that China and India say they want. Let's wait and see how this plays out, don't pop the champagne yet.

Well, we have a king and he has palaces and many servants who immediately do what he says and commands, so maybe I'll start from the end. The servants are the Republicans in Congress and the Senate, and the king of these liars is Trump, who was born a cowardly, wretched liar who is attracted to people with strong character and power, and his entire goal today is to steal as much money as possible, and he doesn't care at all that there is no money and the coffers are empty. Therefore, the workers who print money work day and night printing the money that every citizen will pay, he and his children, what the politicians stole. Just to remind everyone that there are already 36 trillion missing from the coffers that must be paid, and all the money that is printed today loses its value even at the time of printing, and inflation is just racing into the abyss with a blind rider and no one stops it or prevents it, and the Republicans are happy to serve the mad king and cooperate with him in turning America into Russia and Putin into the president of kings who rules over Russia and America, and Trump receives work orders from him, and therefore there is no freedom and no democracy in America anymore, but yes, this This is just the beginning of a dictatorship and changing the laws along the way. There is no need to talk about the destruction and devastation. This is already visible to everyone in America and around the world.

One Mafia guy spent 15 years in jail and was in that very cell at one time. He claims rounds were not made by guards. Mafia clean up guys were allowed in and took care of
Epstein, and left the prison. I believe it. Surely, the Mafia was paid to silence Epstein.. He would have caused great harm to a lot of politicians, lawyers, whatever

The most important thing everyone should think about now is how to invest in different sources of income that are not dependent on the government. Especially with the current economic crisis around the world🌍. This is still a good time to invest in different stocks like gold, silver and digital currencies. all thanks to Evelyn Infurna for coaching.

Addendum: There is great significance in the fact that Senator Lindsay Graham is a member of the majority party, and 81 out of 100 senators are co-sponsoring his sanctions bill. That is more than enough to pass the bill even over presidential veto.

It is also more than enough to remove a president from office.

Ukraine is wasting thousands and thousands of young me of the best years of their lives. You people are delusionable about a revolution. The failed assassination attack on Putin in Kursk has really pissed off the Russian people. And you want Medvedev to take over. Remember that the US is facing a debt crisis as is much of Europe. Brussels has to over-turn elections to insure no pro-Russian officials are elected. So much for democracy.

Absolutely correct about the total cynicism and lack of Judaeo-Christian morality among the russian elite. The West has another flaw too - gullibility. We see it again and again and Satter identifies it by saying that we "project" our own values (a minimal amount of compassion and decency) onto the russian leadership. They don't deserve it. They are monsters and must be treated as monsters.

Excellent analysis. But you've missed the minor point that Russia is taking all the productive parts and population of the Ukraine, so it's actually a good investment for them. As soon as they value the 20% of Ukraine into their GDP you will see a large jump.
