Jamaicans politicians sell out Jamaicans, but you can't business with Jamaicans will kill you for their politicians so it's a difficult situation as Jamaican I don't think about beaches anymore.

As an American, this is shocking. How shitty does your government have to be to let foreign companies own a coastline of an island nation?! WTF?

In the US Virgin Islands it is unlawful to block access to beaches, if you have a resort you must provide a path or access to every beach. It is the law here. Need to chase dem bald head out of town.

My God! This is EXACTLY why Jesus is coming back! Injustice and immortality will be avenged. They put out the message in the states that JA is violent and aggressive toward tourist. Of course they never mention the disgusting situation be perpetuated around the people.

The resorts are making millions. The Jamaicans live in shanties, grovel in the streets for handouts, this is wrong. The resorts should help the locals, give them fishing boats build nominal housing and help provide welfare by giving them jobs such as maids and landscapers and pay them a livable wage. Not the same as US but a wage they can live on if they work .

This is ironic, very similar to the border situation in the US.

This is Jamaicans homeland, first and foremost. It is inhumane to keep the fishermen from fishing on an island. The beach around the resort may be ok to fence in but not to ban the locals from using their own beach. Also the locals need to understand that harassment and crime against the tourists can’t be tolerated. When I was in Jamaica at Ocho Rio we were bombarded with locals wanting to sell their wares and would put things in our vehicle and ask for money not just one but several around the little vehicle .

Us peasants are sick of being trapped, tired and angry, we’ve had enough.

Because tourism is basically keeping them out of poverty? Some are just too small minded to realize how their economic system works and are ungrateful about it. They should be ridiculed.

Resorts are a weird concept.. why go on vacation to another country if you're just gonna sit in a resort the whole time?

When i was a boy in the seventies not even 9 like..late 70s i remember they had barred us from going on a beach we always went on back then..the government have been selling off the beach fronts to resorts and private mansions for decades..so sadly this is not new. This have been a forever fight...i went from one month being able to just walk onto the beach and play to next month..nope! And again this was in the late 70's the locals have been opressed abused and disregarded for decades sadly..

This is going to destroy their entire tourist economy. No one wants a bunch of blacks running scams where they force bracelets and flowers on you expecting money in return while on vacation.

As a British person, this be the work of the resorts not the british and other ethnicities staying there.

It's not a bother to us who would stay in the resorts that Jamaicans fish in their own waters.

It's yours. Fish and tell the resorts to shut up.
