You guys want to see 12 and 13th gen run through these tests? If so should I disable the e cores? Since Windows 11 and its thread director was changed to accommodate 12th and 13th generations e cores. Lmk.

Windows 12 needs a dedicated gaming mode. Meaning a stripped down bootable environment meant just for gaming which doesn't need all the rest of the junk. Things are just getting too bloated.

I found windows 11 playback of mkv, mp4 videos even on a 4090 slower. I have used potplayer, klite mega and vlc player. Each have the same result when you play a mkv video on win11 vs win10 its sluggish. You wont see dropped frames but you can see a jittering effect on 4k videos. All i can figure is the new win11 UI has some sort of impact on mkv videos. I have even toggled video playback features in win11. Anyone else experience this while using win11?

I am on i9 10850k and Windows 10. I upgraded from i7 4790k and windows 7. But i know for a fact browsing my pc (my drives & folders) and opening firefox and steam or discord was way more faster/snappier on i7 4790k (windows 7) than on i9 10850k (windows 10)

The big feature for W11 that will be worth upgrading is reinstalling the OS without losing your programs or files.

But I’ll still stick with W10 since I never reinstall Windows unless it is a new PC. But better HDR support might be good one day if I own an expensive monitor.

i use windows 10 on my pc & 11 on my recent laptop. my laptop specs are enough high (i9-13980hx, ddr5 5600 64gb & rtx 4060), i felt windows 10 on my old pc is much better performance, i dunno windows 11 kinda too much background program & feature that i dont need to use. unfortunately i couldn’t downgraded my laptop to windows 10 because of some unsupported features for my laptop

Windows 10 will continue to be faster down the line. (microsoft will continue to add more bloatware to windows 11 in the future)

lol save 30 seconds a day working in windows 10. yeah not that interested. now saving half a second in a game, now that could be game changing.

just a question, was the same pc used, or 2 computers which are exactly the same? because if you built 2 computers then, there could be slight performance differences.

I really hope Linux comes out with a main distro that just takes over Windows. Microsoft has done nothing but add bloat to Windows for years now that bogs it down. A lot of it is useless. With Linux gaming getting so much better and easier to use, I can't wait till we can just use it instead.

I'm currently using a Core 2 Quad Q9650 with an EVGA 750 Ti SC and a Sound Blaster Audigy SB0090, which dual boots with Windows XP Pro SP3 32-bit, as a retro everyday driver. I recently upgraded from Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit (with Classic Shell which puts in a proper Start Menu, making Windows 8.1 almost like Windows 7 in terms of usability) to Windows 10 Pro 22H2 64-bit. I've found that with Windows 10 coming with much more generic drivers for my hardware, as well as having to use Snappy Driver installer for the Sound Card, the overall experience I've had with Windows 10 has generally been slower and rougher than with Windows 8.1 (while in turn Windows 8.1 I found to be actually more snappy and responsive than when I had Windows 7 Pro SP1 64-bit on it earlier).

I'm not looking forward to Microsoft officially declaring my currently 15 year old retro PC amongst the e-waste dead as of October 2025 with the demise of support for Windows 10. (But of course for those in the know there's ways around that to get Windows 11 installed and (sort of) running. ;-) )

I think Microsoft should do something new, instead of one new operating system every three or fore years; they should create three operating systems each one tuned to specific purposes for particular community groups. For instance, one of those three operating would be made solely with the purpose of improving and increasing a persons gaming experience, it would be tuned for that and made for that particular purpose, it would still have functions a normal operating would but it's purposed is for gaming, so the UI, task manager, appearance etc... would be different; the other OS be purposed for there particular community groups, for these particular group they should get with developers, and designers, like for the gamers group they should get developers around that culture for the best possible gaming OS. These OS would be upgraded every 5 years, in-between there would be subsequent patches in stuff. So just three big OS upgraded every 5 years.

I have been using Windows 11 since it came out and have had no issues with it. my PC works the same as it did on Windows 10. Idk why so many people are having problems but all I can say is sorry that things aren't working out. If Windows isn't for you, either stick with 10 or switch to another OS, No need to buy a new PC just make a Bootable USB of whatever OS you want and install it to your PC.

Just like when 10 came out, 7 was faster than it. First thing I did when jumping to 10 from 7 was to disable all the Cortana crap. It's been some years since then and I think I made it pretty snappy by continuously learning about the crap it contains in order to safely put it in the garbage. Won't be transitioning to 11 anytime soon. If it's slower, it means that it has even more crap running in the background out of the box.
