Hi Austin I bought a handheld welder brand Spark with a dial knob on top that goes from 1-5 1/2 how can I set it up to weld with a E 7018 3/32 rod what’s ur advice, I got this machine just to do little things around the house

I might have hung it a little bit higher. In Oklahoma the vegetation will grow in and get in the way when you open and close.
The welds look great. I still haven't mastered vertical 7018 so I would have probably used 6010.

Love the channel Austin. Thinking about doing a pipe fence. I'm in central FL and have a few questions. This fence is just raw mild steel correct? You don't treat it with anything when finished? Who needs a TIG machine when you can weld uphill with 7018 like you do! Wow that's the best looking uphill 7018 weld on the web!

Your little finger knows more about welding than I do, so I have what may be a simple question. Why not use 6010 for your root pass to get more penetration?

This is great, I love welding but I never get to do enough of it. Im self taught, I'm no expert, I can lay a decent Bead but uphill is always a challenge. I've never used a 7018 rod though as I believe you need a DC capable machine? Anyway, I need lots of practice with uphill welds

Those fence rails seem to be quite different in height.

Another thing to consider when hanging gates is of the gate is used while there is snow on the ground some guys around here like there gates hung alittle high so they can open freely with snow on the ground

I know you weld with 5/32 7018 on the gates is there anything wrong welding hinges with 1/8 7018?

First time in 8 or so videos I’ve seen you weld the way I was taught uphill. Looks good enough for the girls I go with.

Hey Bub… I’m new to your channel. You do a great job with everything from quality of work to explaining the process at hand. I’m 44yrs welder by trade. Most of all my work had been structural/Millwright shutdown work. I’m curious if you would recommend someone such as myself to jump into working solely for myself. “Into days economic status” I have no interest in outages/shutdown work. I’m more interested in gates,Equipment etc….. any feed back would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I'm not questioning your expertise because i dont know anything but why 7018 on your "root" pass and not 6010? Just going off of what I've seen on other welding videos and am trying to learn.

You could build a sliding tongue on that little trailer and slide it out when you want to haul longer items.

Boss I’ve been around welding my whole life and I have never seen a stick weld as neat as what you do. Excellent work buddy.
