Freud is one of the easiest people to defend on this show. He didn’t kill anybody or do anything atrocious, just had silly ideas.

i disagree with one thing, i believe some human behaviours are iner and can be changed by past events in history, example A, humans are scared of the dark due to big scary animals coming out in those ice age times etc, humans get depressed when lonely because in history its know groups survive, and those alone die, (im talking hunter gatherer times)

As time goes on Freud's basic theories have been proven true. I'm sure he'd be delighted to know his "ID" was discovered as accurate within the brain as the Reptilian stem, the seat of primitive desires. The Unconscious, Repression, Dream Therapy are just some of his concepts still being used. Of course he was limited by his time period. He's known as the father of Psychology for a reason. English: I have the feeling that those commenting did not read all of what Freud wrote, you only read/listened to people who explain some parts of his theory and give their opinion from that point of view. Read it in its entirety, it is very interesting and obviously some things were super outdated due to the time, but there are other things that Freud himself corrected throughout the more than 40 years that he dedicated himself to his psychoanalytic theory.

Es una crítica según lo que los críticos dicen de Freud. Por ejemplo, lo de la envidia del pene, así contado muy de pasada, parece un motivo más que suficiente para ponerse en contra de Freud; pero los que son psicoanalistas saben muy bien gracias a su arte analítica, que eso tiene un sustento muy sólido y verosímil.

Much of this is inaccurate..... The majority of what Freud hypothesized has been shown to be accurate and true. A good portion of this can be discovered in Fisher & Greenberg's book, "The Scientific Credibility of Freud's Theories and Therapy". Sadly, most people don't understand what Freud meant much of the time and this includes too many psychoanalysts. I'm sure the elbows on the suit he was buried in are thread bare after rolling over in his grave due to people misquoting and otherwise doing things that were not what he ever intended!!!

None of his ideas that you call "fantastical" seem that fantastical to me. It's just deductive reasoning. The universe is deterministic. Free will does not exist.

I'm a psychologyst and psychoanalyst myself and I can say this video is a complete misunderstanding of Freud's theory since it doesn't adress in any way the epistemologic differences of psychology and psychoanalysis, for example the value of a myth. There has been said a lot about this matter but the scriptwriter completely missed out, such a shame. Non-educational since it is misleading.
