I'm currently at a crossroads deciding whether to exchange my $250k security/stock portfolio; how might the continuous market volatility work to my advantage?

What do you recommend for a 20 year old wanting to hold for long term to buy a house/vacations/car etc in like 10--15 years taxable brokerage account? Index funds or ETFs? I dont plan on being tempted to sell or switch brokerage just buy and sit. If so sbould I use Fidelity? I plan on starting with $100 a month.

I am a 73 year old on my 5th year of retirement. The only investment I have is my IRA account with Fidelity. My total savings and checking account in one bank exceeds the 250,000 amount that is insured with FDIC. I just want to take out what is in excess of 250,000. My problem is I do not know where to invest that excess amount. I do not have any financial target at this stage of my life. Is index fund investing for me?

If you were investing 500k today what ETF funds would you use and what percentage would you put in them. Or would you hold off getting into any of them at this point in time.

As a complete beginner, the price of shares differ greatly. Is buying the lower price share and having a larger number a better situation or buying the higher priced shares and having fewer better?
