From Record Heat to Brief Shot of Arctic Air For Eastern N America & Europe, Hints of More to Come?

Someone is obsessed with cold winters again. Let's hope to god we don't have a cold winter.

It's always cold in northern Scotland, those poor souls are still waiting for summer.

2-3 cool days, rest of the month has been so mild. Especially first week of September. I reckon cet will come out around 15-15.5 and it'll be a mild winter similar to last year.. as most winters are nowadays

I hate the thought of a cold winter myself. I am hoping for a very mild winter. Even today I find it bitterly cold.

The last CANSIPS and ECMWF seasonal models updates do show an increase in northern blocking into autumn and winter like you suggest. Btw have you seen that apparent 15 years cycle of clusters of colder winters that came out of the CET record Richard Traut found that was discussed on Gavins channel? The NOAA monthly aggregates they pulled out from those years do show a really strong signal for various types of northern blocking… negative NAO in general but also a lot of Scandinavian/atlantic blocks, which is what some models and also you now may be seeing as possible also. The last cluster of those colder winters was centered around 2010, so it may be starting to come into play, for whatever reason is causing this pattern.

I have a feeling that we're going to see a colder than average winter.

The September forecast looks very similar to 1978. High pressure took over well into October.
