The "a transformed commander is still your commander" actually won me a game recently, i was playing a +1/+1 counters deck and put one in my commander, then it was hit with a the enchantment that transforms it into a 0/1 insect with indestructible, which made my commander actually BETTER cuz People could not deal with it, i proliferated a whole bunch and Just one shotted the table one at a time

Correct me if i'm wrong, but if you succeeded in making the Dualcaster Mage + Double Major combo, the game actually ends in draw because the combo goes infinite. You can't stop it unless you played another creature with flash or if you counter it.
If you have an infinite combo you can't stop, the game ends in draw.

In the third scenario, Carl consistently refers to commander damage from Jhoira as "commander damage from me" ("me" referring to himself) and commander damage from Aesi as "commander damage from yourself" ("yourself" referring to Thoralf). While not technically a rules violation it is incorrect as commander damage is tied to the individual card and not the owner of the card, this is important in the case of partner commanders whose instances of commander damage would be tracked separately.

I still don't super understand why Thalia wasn't doubled. A spell that copies a spell isn't an effect that creates a token?

Regarding commander dmg it's easy....... if the piece of cardboard that you had in command zone at the beginning of the game deals combat dmg to somebody he takes commander damage from that commander, that does not combine with any other commander damage dealt by other piece of cardboard that was in the command zone at the start of the game ...... Every physical card that started in command zone has commander damage counted separately ( Including partner commanders ) and it does not matter if it's flipped, changed into something or whatever, as long it is that piece of cardboard it deals commander dmg.

the easiest way to remember commander damage is to think of it like "commander damage is a property of the cardboard." No matter what happens to the object, if it gets polymorphed, turned into a copy of someone else's commander, flipped face-down, taken control of, etc, as long as that piece of cardboard is attacking, it deals your commander's commander damage. Likewise, if you make a copy of it, or play clone as a copy of it, those copies of it aren't the same piece of cardboard, so they don't do commander damage.

Pedant Judge!
Not casting spells in the correct manner. These goons keep tapping mana before declaring their spells. The 1st step is to announce the spell and put it on the stack, Paying for it comes later. Now (the really pedantic part) had they declared they were simply drawing/floating the mana I wouldn't say anything, but that never happened. (see rule 601.2)

The most confusing rule interaction I have ever seen is when a deathtouch trample is blocked by industrictble. Industrictble won't die from any amount of damage. Death touch trample only needs to deal 1 to kill blocker therefore everything after q tramples over. But the indestructible wouldn't die from the death touch hitting it YET the damage over 1 still tramples over.

Double strike has also always confused me. If it's unblocked it will attack twice. If it doesn't kill blocker in first hit. It will attack twice.
If it has trample. It will attack twice
But if it kills blocker in first hit. It will be fully blocked not then attack life total.
Lol

I've become so sensitive to the word 'Judge' that when I'm playing and not judging and someone calls a colleague over I will instinctively look around to see what table to run to. Sometimes also if people say other words that sound a little like judge.

I think Dualcaster Mage and Double Major could work but you'd need two Dualcaster Mages, one before and one after the Double Major. That way there is always an instant and a creature spell on the stack to target.

I'm shocked, a lot of people say being a judge is difficult. But All I ever see, (this video included) is resolved using common sense, and knowing how spells and abilities resolve on the stack. Every time I'm asked a question, I default to "reread the cards" and they normally figure it out.

Double major + dualcaster mage doesn't work. But twinflame + dualcaster mage works...

Is it because double major saw "creature spell" and copies don't count as spells? Or why doesn't it work?

Edit: was it the wrong oder? Since double major resolves before dualcaster enters, dualcaster doesn't have a target!

The berrenton forge tender play was not well explained here. It is unclear what was chosen by carl if anything was. mostly cause the situational context was real unclear. was this supposed to represent a play mistake on carls part? (a tactical mistake not a rules error)

I rewinded a couple times but can't quite tell.. During the thalia double major play is the correct amount of mana tapped? I know there is a lot going on scripting these plays and there is an extra forest in play so the play should be totally legal but Since Thalia is all players I thought it was going to be a judge call or atleast a red herring.

Wouldn't the first combo be legally infinite if you cast double major first, targeting another creature on the field, then casting dualcaster after, copying double major and letting you target itself to infinity

I knew the protection from red doesn't stop Stomp.
But my mind still thinks that protection should still stop the being targeted by red stuff. Which should just become an illegal target. So it should fizzle. But that's not how it happens 🤔🤷‍♂️

The same is true if the commander was a 2/2 morph creature. It still has the commander attribute. So commander damage still happens.
As well if you have a commander that melds. When melded, it still deals commander damage.
Or mutated. Even if the mutate is over the commander.

I would also like to note that if you were able to pick up your deck, and no one would bat an eye at it, then there is a slight of hand technique called dealling secounds. Basically say you dont want you apponent to know what is on top of your deck, because you know it is really good, and the opponent uses a card that makes you discard the top x cards of your library, then you could just pick up your deck and deal the card under it into the graveyard keeping the card you want on top. But this is all fixed because of the idea, or even a rule, that picking up your deck when you dont need to is sus.

Dumb question, but since the Aesi doesn't have haste, wouldn't it not have been able to attack? The token should have been able to, because of the equipped creature being legendary, but the original was taken without being given haste.

Fun fact there is actually a way to make a commander not a commander in the eyes of the game. And that way is by turning that creature face down. A commander turned Face Down by something like ixidron will not deal Commander damage

I stopped playing back in Mirage/Saga because of a bad Judge call on my three turn kill deck. In their defence it was weird. They sent it off to WoTC for a ruling. It came back in my favour but was already too late.

Turn 1: Swamp Dark Ritual, Sleeper Agent, Treacherous Link (on Sleeper Agent)
Turn 2: Plains, Flesh Reaver
Turn 3: Land, Pariah (on Sleeper Agent), Attack with Flesh Reaver.

Im sorry could someone explain the part with the breeding pool and the revealing of the library? Why did it matter in this case? Why would any of these top cards of the library dictate whether or not you would want mana available from breeding pool that turn? Is it because you want to cast a 3 cost spell and since you can play 2 lands a turn, knowing if the next card is a non-pain land could save you the need to get a mana from the pain land?
