Sounds like the biggest issue was a frozen drain line. Nice kit you put together. Is the extra defrost heater at the top of evaporator coil necessary? Sounds like the drain line damming up was the culprit for all the ice build up. Ive never had issues with ice build up right after the metering device causing issues with evaporator coil freezing up(on other units I've worked on/assuming no other issues), would hate to have that defrost termination thermistor terminating the heater circuit early.

How much more value could you ask for than the knowledge and materials necessary to either 1) keep an expensive appliance working, or 2) know for sure that it needs to be replaced? Ours had a leak at the back when I put it back together, the last time I repaired it. So there was a streak of ice coming from the cracked spot about 2/3rds down on the right side. My wife found a free fridge on fb marketplace. It's a side by side, and looked smaller in the pictures online. When I picked it up, it's as big as the french door one we have. They gave the fridge away, because they got a new one. This one they gave us is supposed to be working perfectly. The seals are now trashed on the Samsung fridge. I still have to swap them out. Somewhat if a big job, since I have to take doors off them to get them through the back door. LOL

I need to purchased a new refregiator. what so what do you think of

The foam got stuck to ice and evaporator. Only plastic cover came off. So much ice. Maybe fan doesn't spin?

Ben - in one of your earlier videos you applied the insulated tape on top of the cover where the water flows and on another video you applied it under the condenser cover. Which Is recommended? Thanks

This is almost exactly what happened to our Samsung French Door last week. When we looked at fan, evaporator, cover, plus other parts possibly needed (plus a crack in the rear plastic). We'd already be at $400+ just for parts. Plus, the icemaker crashed and burned 3-4 years ago. Our new GE Profile side-by-side delivers tomorrow.

Thank you for this. There are many videos out there that show how to remove the panel, but this is the only one I've found that 1) addresses what to do if your panel is frozen on, and 2) discusses and shows the styrofoam on the panel. Thankfully I was patient and I didn't force the panel off and damage the styrofoam! I didn't have a steamer, but I pointed a fan at the hole, and the frost melted within about six hours.

Bought the kit and did everything like shown in the video and it works great!! Fairly simple and I would highly recommend buying a steam pot like in the video, makes life so much simpler!!! Took me about three hours and that was mostly just getting rid of the ice and completely defrosting all of the drains. Also the little red clips on the wires are a royal pain in the butt!! Thank you so much!! Turned it back on and in less than 4 hours the fridge was down to temperature!!!

Hi Ben. Do you have any idea what error codes 7E and 27E are? We've had two different repairmen out to repair our 6 yr old French door Samsung. Both told us to junk our fridge and replace with a brand like Whirlpool, GE, or a brand that's been around for decades. They said that no one in Amarillo is qualified to repair.
Should we take their advice? Thank you for any advice you can offer.

Your videos saved me a lot of time thank you i have issues with my freezer building up huge amounts of ice and eventually the fan makes noise and stops cooling the freezer with your kit and second heater also fix the freezer issue

Question: In your opinion has Samsung & LG sufficiently addressed the issues that led to the Class Action Lawsuit. A video that reviews the product defects that led to the two class action lawsuits and your assessment as to whether the design changes supposedly made by the vendors have addressed the fundamental issues would make for a great video.

WRT their Class Action Lawsuits, it was my general impression that LG had some design flaws in their (Linear Inverter Compressors?) that led to higher than normal % of compressor failures. And it was my impression that Samsung's Class Action lawsuit was the result of flawed Ice Makers?

I'm trying to decide whether it might be "safe" to consider purchasing one of Samsung and LG newer refrigerators. Key to that is knowing whether their "fixes" have addressed the issues. And do you know which exact models have the improvements?

After spending a LOT of time reading User Reviews (literally hundreds) for almost every major Consumer Refrigerator manufacturer my observation is that LG and Samsung generally get higher user ratings than the other brands. Frankly, the American "manufacturers" seem to have lower overall ratings than LG and Samsung and seem to have equally horrendous 1 and 2 star reviews.

With that in mind I'm leaning towards a Samsung Bespoke refrigerator (with no door ice or water dispensor). Thoughts/Concerns?

literally just had this happen to my samsung fridge and i bought your diy kit. whats the best way to repair the crack on the face of the plastic near the drain port? i guess enough ice built up near the drain and it expanded the plastic area resulting in a crack

Thank you for this video! We just bought a house recently with this exact fridge and about a month in we started getting excess moisture and hearing the fan dying. Followed this video to open it up and fix the problem and the issue is gone. Steamjet made this easy peasy.

My Samsung side by side refrigerator is no cooling on the fridge side the freezer is working when I take the pans out there is ice I unplug the fridge should i just leave it to defrost on it own or can i try siting a pan with warm water in there?

My refrigerator is Samsung side by side RS267LBSH and don’t see the defrost heater at the bottom of the coil like other Samsung refrigerator. Where is the heater located.?
Also, there is only one brown wire I can see. In the case like this how to work with the kit

First of all, thank you so much for this very informative and east to follow video. I decided to undertake this project recently after a so - called repair man came ( don’t even get me started on that ). Anyways, my model wasn’t exactly like this one, but I was able to figure it out and use your kit. I put her back on about two hours ago and she’s running well so far. Fingers crossed 🤞🏽 for a long lasting fix. Tips for others : make sure and thoroughly defrost the panel. Get that steamer and a blow dryer ( be careful not to aim it too long at anything as it will melt ). Good luck to all of who attempt the fix. Thank you again ! ❤

had this same problem.... they just fixed it about two weeks ago the other day the the fridge was running really loud than today no noise at all now the temp on the outside went from 34 degrees. to71 degrees. Going to trash this Samsung fridge and buy a GE this weekend. Not to mention I had the ice maker repaired 2 separate times and recently broke down for a 3rd time Samsung make lousy refrigerators

Ben, great video, I bought the kit. Got one question if you are able to answer and a little feedback. The DEFROST SENSOR wires were half the length of my original, and I had no space to clip onto cooling tubes, so I removed sensor from plastic clip and ziptied it direct to the top cooling tube . Is that OK????

Also, the foam/aluminum tape was a bit of a problem, the paper backing would not come off the glue layer very well, I got enough off to make it work….might want to upgrade that.

I ordered your kit to fix the same issues described in the video, a repairmen tried to tell me I need it a new condenser for about $500 ;(. ... My question is would it be ok to solder the electrical connections instead of using the connectors provided?? I don't trust them for the long run...

I have all of these problems with my Samsung RF260BEAESP/AA fridge, but in addition, I have a broken doohickey at the top of the left-hand door that makes the flipper close for a tight seal when you shut the doors. Now we always shut the left door first and manually flip that part. Do you have that part also that I can order and maybe a video of how to fix it? Also, the fridge gets cold, but I don't hear a fan. It that because it is frozen or broken? TIA Kris
