But seriously, ipython is great for code completion(hit tab twice) and colored syntax and output. And IIRC, you can also edit multi-line inputs much easier!

IPython is just more handy since it 'inherits' linux shell commands.
Very handy if you know bash and are learning Python. Very cool timing/testing features for your code too.
