Right where you have changed the first lines to the paragraphs green... what if you just want to do that with the first paragraph? I'm asking, because... I have a blog archive list where I have the button:before in my CSS. This added the buttons needed for my list. But, I'm having the issue of extra buttons, and am not sure how to get rid of them. I know the problem lies in the :before pseudo element. Just don't know how to resolve this problem.

At 10.22 when you moved "before" with top 100px, it changed from a block element to a inline block element. Why?

Freecodecamp has you drawing hearts to demonstrate this, which is a really impractical and silly way (IMO) to introduce this to someone.
