would you lie to nazi on the moon? ... how could you lie on the moon?... this is not going well, we need a godemperor. thats nice tim, you made you own god but it still fails the basic prinseples.
ОтветитьThis is retarded 😅 front the clips it seems like JP was disappoint by the absolute lack of creative thought coming from these children. He was not debating theologians just hoodlums.
ОтветитьYou can't base the interecation based on a small clip with the most insulting person on the panel. If you watch the full video Peterson elaborates more on what he means by belief. If you cherry pick these couple of minutes, yes it's not his best moment but keep in mind he is being grilled by atheists for over and hour with no break
ОтветитьThose two kids were morons, and if you watch the entire episode, it was actually really good, and JP did well.
Ответить"Atheists reject God, but do not understand what they reject." This question does not seem to contain any reference to which God he means. It forces others to interpret what he means by "God", so these people interpreted him to mean the God of the bible, which is exactly what any of us in the west would do. He did not say Shiva or Allah. It is disingenuous of Peterson to than change the meaning of god or worship or belief in a sad attempt to stand on quick sand and call it rock solid. Tim seems to understand this as well but frames ut as Peterson is right cuz it could be this or could ve that. We all know what he means and what Tim means when we say God or worship or belief. Both seem to be trying to protect the egos of their believer feiends and do not want to tell them they think it is a fraud ment to control the weak minded, because they like you to believe, they want you to follow their rules and be free to do whatever they like, after all neither on is in one of the second class groups that Christians hate. It is easy to see it as a benign force when it does not attack you or yours. Only seeing the issues from your own selfish self centered perspective is the exact reson why viewership of both men is dropping. Psuedo intellectuals always get exposed for the real life cowards and liars they are. Tim and Jordan will both be exposed for the frauds they are, wait and see.
ОтветитьIt seems strange extrapolating all of this from a person having a bad debate. To the point of Tim suggesting the possibility the show chose Jordan because they knew he’d do damage to Christianity. A bad debate is nothing more than a bad debate.
ОтветитьRoasted...? If that's getting roasted im a deep fried turkey.
ОтветитьWhat you can’t lose a debate once in a while? Plus, it’s difficult to keep your composure around young cringelords. It’s easy to make someone look like a dumbass when you drag them down to your dumbass level.
ОтветитьAhhh, just asked Grok to break it down. Yes, it be moral to lie to Nazi’s if you were harboring Jews. The act of preserving innocent life ranks above lying. Rahab did it in Joshua 2 against Jericho and the Hebrew midwives, Shipharah and Puah did as well in Exodus 1. When Evil abounds, it’s justified to lie to Evil to save innocent lives.
ОтветитьProblem with Jordan is he won’t just say he’s a theist Jordan is playing a game also why can’t he use common sense and say of course I’ll lie to save people it’s the greater good end of story Jordan’s time is over he is amazing at changing peoples lives but he is also limited and he should close up shop and know that he did good work and let it go he’s like a great boxer aka pac man yet is ruining his legacy
Ответитьyeah literally commented this before on a previous video... peterson is not a theist and they should of gotten a theist. i totally said it was jubalee not getting right wing or having anyone that is right wing there so they just got a predominant figure on the right assuming all right wing = christian. i totally get that athiests frustration.... he came for a debate where the guy doesn't wanna debate you because he doesn't hold the opposite position. which is what that show is totally about. Peterson or at least who ever is on his team setting this up SHOULD have seen the shows and realized what kind of show it was and realized he wasn't a good fit. even if he is pragmatic in his belief structure he should of at least taken the appropriate position for the debate.... peterson IS well versed and intelligent to at least put up a decent argument on behalf of theists. but he's totally the wrong guy for that show. he should of been on the debate of anti trans terminology being forced... its what got him famous. a structure he firmly stands on. he'll use your pronouns if asked politely. he's a very considerate person.... but he will not be forced to under threat.
ОтветитьIt's not semantic games, Dr. Peterson is right about the nature of belief. It's not something that occurs at the level of thought, it's a deeper phenomenon. You'll notice if you ever had what you thought was a belief about something in yourself and then confronted it in reality only to find that you responded very differently. People believe themselves courageous when they are cowardly, strong when they are weak, etc. The point being, if you don't hold to it when it matters, it's not what you really believe.
The main problem seems to be that Dr. Peterson keeps engaging in situations where the structure is lousy for actual discussion and the participants aren't acting in good faith. I'd speculate that he's doing so on purpose as a test of himself, but regardless, I think the result is that no one learns anything and it looks terrible.
False dichotomy
ОтветитьHe’s not doing semantic games. He’s establishing ontological assumptions because they matter! Athieists being intellectually dishonest as usual.
ОтветитьBelief can mean anything from a suspicion to a conviction. He’s absolutely correct to clarify. It delineates boundaries and leaves no room for intellectual dishonesty.
ОтветитьLITERALLY EVERY Jordan Peterson video dissolves into a discussion about Christianity, and now he's claiming not to be a Christian? Yeah, gotta be honest, Jordan met someone who could argue better then himself. End of discussion.
ОтветитьI saw him and took my pops twice in CLT. 12 Rules and 12 More. Both were excellent.
ОтветитьIf you read Mark 11:27-33 in context you will see a similar debate. Most Christians aren’t likely to say Jesus denied God in Mark 11:33 the same way Simon Peter denied Jesus 3 times after the cock crowed. It’s possibly JP is just saying he doesn’t have to state his belief in the authority behind his claims because the intent of the other is not to know the truth.
ОтветитьIt's sort of cringe seeing peterson spout off about post modernists manipulating truth for the past decade only for him to become a mega post modernist. He can't even come to the conclusion of a shared definition for the sake of a debate or discussion.
ОтветитьJordan wasn't sure where this was all going that's why he was answering like that he's no fool he sensed a setup but was giving the benefit of the doubt to the situation
ОтветитьJordan Peterson really bombed this one, honestly. He lost his cool and floundered.
ОтветитьThe issue is topic, not context. JP was good on Cathy Newman and Daily Wire because he talked about psychology and behaviour. He is not a theologian or an apologist or even a Christian and shouldn’t be regarded as such. It’s great that’s JP opened the door to Christianity but don’t rely on him to make you at home in it. Watch Glenn Scrivener’s take on this on Speaker Life
ОтветитьWow that little boy has a 'slap my face off' type personality.
ОтветитьI got the feeling that they were dishonest questions and completely understand Peterson's reaction.
ОтветитьShould have gotten Cliff, or Andrew, or Frank Turek, or John Lennox to debate them. Actual Christian apologists.
ОтветитьJubilee is ran by retards
ОтветитьPeterson is a teacher. His engagement in this kind of format is charitable. He brings attention to the complexity of the subject and lets young kids have a minute of fame.
ОтветитьThe people who he debated during the show were too retarded to understand his points.
ОтветитьThis comment section is surprising me to no end.
ОтветитьJuden Peterstein If you didn't know his real name
ОтветитьThe guy used believe in the definition of believe which is circular.
ОтветитьThat’s not JP. It’s a clone
Ответитьfunny to see all the anti-christians aren't fully adult
ОтветитьJubilee is bottom of the barrel entertainment. Jordan Peterson is intellectual. This was not a good match. It's hiring Pavarotti to lead your Nickleback cover band at a child's birthday party.
ОтветитьI believe he’s stuck in his own head having long lived vicariously through the written words of others and the trauma of those he’s treated.
We’ve reveled in the past as he torched leftist elites and ideologues. And they were generally all part of the upper echelon of those circles. But the level of disdain he showed to ordinary people here, clearly not in his intellectual or academic strata, is really the most telling thing about him. The man is a dick.
The word "believe" is derivative of the phrase "live by".
ОтветитьREMEMBER he had to goto those training camps. It’s catching up to him. 😢
ОтветитьSo he had a bad day. Leave him alone. It doesn’t change the fact that he’s changed a lot of peoples lives for the better. He’s a great man and I think they lied to him about what he was really there for
ОтветитьPretty easy to see the kid was literally frothing at the mouth. I wouldn't engage with that kind of crazy energy either lol
I was a little confused at first in the second clip but the more it went on the more I was convinced by my first impression. It's tiresome entertaining people who want to bend conversations every which way for... what in the end? I'm willing to bet he read the room and just checked out eventually.
You also have to wonder how cut down the debate was since jublee isn't exactly unbias.
ОтветитьPeterson isn't being semantical. He's asserting hard definitions to a rabble of "gotcha" armchair philosophers.
Perhaps there are plenty of things Peterson is guilty of and worthy of criticism for. Precise language and a agility to avoid idiotic language traps from snot-nosed college freshmen isn't one of them.
Everyone criticizing him for this is stupid and wrong.
Dr. Peterson was trying very hard to get to something very, very deep - and he never had the time to get there. Not a good format for him. Each discussion would need to be at least 30 minutes to get to where he was trying to go - and he was trying very hard to bring his 'opponent' with him for the ride, which is why he kept on asking questions. Watch a bunch of his work, it's pretty much all available on line and it becomes much clearer.
ОтветитьNot one of Jordan’s better debates. But he’s had so much camera time he’s bound to have a flop occasionally. Debates are like a competitive sport, they’re not a substitute for looking at the larger picture of truth that a person has stood for, articulated, or discovered over time.
ОтветитьIt's not just anti Christian, is anti Hebrew. I can repudiate both faiths with one book. I think is was the Christians that sabotaged the debate. Now they can say, "see you aren't doing it right!"
ОтветитьIn regards to the last comment, there are 3 levels of non religious. Agnostics haven't really looked into it. They are just normal joes living their lives. Then there are Atheists, who actively reject the truth claims. These first two I can sit down and have a logical conversation with, and I believe that 99% of them will find God if they want to, though some just reject it out of self desire. Then there are Anti-Theists. These are people that are actively angry with God, and won't see any form of reasoning or logic. They will make completely debunked claims, like Jesus didn't exist, or that he wasn't crucified, or that we don't have accurate records of the Bible. For them, all I can do is show them love and hope God can heal their heart.
ОтветитьNot all hypotheticals are created equal. Jordan says dont sin. The atheist proposes a situation where sins are the only two choices. It is essentially "What if you hypothetically agree with me?" Then I agree with you, but the agreement has no value, because you have robbed me of all the arguments permissable in reality outside the hypothetical that is not in reality.
"What would you do if you were a pimp?"
"I would pimp them hoes"
"So you are a pimp?"
"No I would never be a pimp."
That is what Jordan said. It is logically sound, and he did nothing wrong.
Jordan Peterson is just too smart for these people.
ОтветитьJordan Peterson has been through a lot during the past years. The loss of his licence, the attacks from both the left and now the right because he stands up for his principles and criticized people like Andrew Tate, and recently, the last canadian election. It has probably taken a toll on him. The guy is immensely intelligent but also very human.
