New Scotland Yard Files - The Murder Of Alice Gross

When New Scotland Yard detective Carl Mehta was assigned to investigate a missing sixteen year old girl, he freely admits he feared the worse. Alice went for a walk at 6 pm on an August evening, and never returned. With over 600 officers and police divers involved, the search for Alice Gross became the biggest use of police manpower since the 7/7 bombing, but when they failed to find any trace of Alice, her desperate family clung to the hope that Alice was still alive. Her local west London community embraced the "Find Alice" appeal and and whole parts of London were smothered in yellow bows, ribbons and rosettes. Sadly Alice's body was discovered as police trawled a stretch of the river Brent, it had been deliberately concealed, weighed down with logs, bricks and a bicycle wheel. Piecing together what happened to Alice took Scotland Yard Detectives to Latvia where they discovered the horrific history of a man they searching for in connection with her death, but could they find him? Alice's murder eventually led to questions being asked in Parliament and a change in UK law. .
