Microsoft Power BI for Beginners - 2 Hour Power BI Crash Course!

Such a very informative tutorial. Just very disappointed because on the part 2 of the course there is a complete new dataset that is being used by the instructor that was not used in part 1 and unfortunately that is where the tutorial had to end because we cant follow along anymore😮‍💨😮‍💨

I have been doing analytics last 15 years..This is great ..very simple, precise & neat...1.20.15 this is exactly what I tell my team ..you hit the 🎯the approach & plan before designing the dashboard is really important.

Part 2 is using a power BI file that has more info in it compared to Part 1. I can no longer follow along because I dont have the same file.

Why does my bookmark not work? They cannot jump between each other.

there are some new data column in the part2 that are not in the part1 like sales quantity, unit price and cost it's hard to catch up when we can't follow the data

Please how can I get the Database to practice

Part 2 data is not consistent with part 1 data. It is difficult to match the two parts.

These simon folks seem to only respond when you praise them. As for the large amount of help being asked- no response. That’s pretty slippery 🤔

There is somewhere where Simon Sez just confuses the whole lot of followers on one video and poooof, we are lost. The part when you introduce the second session after 30 days, we are in Lalaland!

This started out so well but at the halfway point the data files changed and you can no longer follow along. I managed to add in the missing date columns in the calendar table on my own but there is not enough info to create the columns that are missing on the sales table. Plus there is an error somewhere in the first half causing the data view on the sales table to appear blank although the data is still there. Wish I had read the other comments first...

The Unit Price, Unit Cost and Sales Quantity are not in my data set. And the Sales table became blank.

I don't understand why Sales Query appears blank in Power BI. I followed the steps carefully. Sales Query only shows the column category, but the rows values are blanks. I don't know what Im doing wrong. Has everyone the same experience?

I am halfway through, so far it is a great course. I do have a question though: when merging queries, you only match the "Location" column, but as you told before some cities in different countries do have the same name, so isn't it necessary to match the country code as well or how does Power BI know which Location ID to choose?

The first half of the course is great, the second unfortunately pretty useless if you would like to follow the instructions, because the sales table isn't on the level of where part 1 ended, so I had to quit.

I keep getting a date format error. I have tried to make the dates uniform. the error starts on 13/01/2016. Any help, please

Hi, I am trying to create a measure using count rows formula. It is giving me all the time 1 as output. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Also, I have created date table as you have demonstrated in the video and I created a column called week and tried to keep the unique data according to the week column but I am not being able to see that as the table is not visible to the power query editor. I will really appreciate if you can assist me to solve the issues. Thank you in advance.

I am newbie in Power Platforms , I just have a few question because im confused in some parts of power bi and just want different opinions/answers .
1. in your opinion is power bi can support large data?
2. if there is a data inserted in excel is power bi automatically update the published reports or the user need to reupload the excel ?
3. I saw in the video that you unable the data load of the sales_prep table but there is new a new table Sales which refered to sales_prep table , the sales_prep table is connected to the imported excel(2016,2017 etc) if the user insert a new data in the sales.xlsx is the power bi data automatically update or not?

Really good overview of Power BI 👍, but the instructor files I downloaded are the ones from the 1st session and don't include fields for calculated fields (Unit Cost, Unit Price, Sales Quantity) and I had to make these up before continuing the training 👎
