What if you want a more complex result of post-biotics by adding fruits at the beginning of the fermentation instead of sugar- would that produce a good result?

Also, how do you deal with a SCOBY HOTEL that won't take over your whole house with each batch that you produce?

This is a very good video! I do prefer brewing all of mine 1 gal at once and not using a from concentrate starter. This helps sterilize the brewing vessel and I do let it crash to room temp with its topper on. I also use some Star San from my homebrewing supplies to sterile the instruments that where not boiled with the tea and sugar. Like my meat thermometer to check the temp before I add the scoby culture from my scoby hotel.

I was thinking of getting into making kombucha but I was very intimidated in the procedure of making the dream but after looking at this video for the first time you explained it in so much detail it just made me feel is there I can do this thank you so much for this segment and I will be watching more of your videos hats off to you. Hello, I have another question. I'm figuring out whether I should start fermentation using a 1 gallon jar or 2 half gallon jars. With the 1 gallon jar, I plan to use 2 cups starter liquid plus proper amount of sweet tea. With the 2 half gallon jars, I would use 1 cup starter liquid plus proper amount of sweet tea for each jar. I have 2 scobys that I grew so I will be able to add scobys to each of the half gallon jar. Which option will ferment faster and which option will result in better tasting kombucha?

Question: At the end when you have the fruit pulp in the individual bottles, can you strain the pulp out and rebottle the kombucha, or does that kill the carbonation?

Hello, for us newbies. Can you tell me approximately how much water is needed for a 1 gallon glass jar so that there is enough room for 2 cups of starter tea and the scoby? I figure 1 gallon= 16 cups subtract 2 cups of starter tea which leaves 14 cups of water. Is that right? This means the water to starter tea ratio is 7 to 1. Let me know if this is right.

We’ve just found your channel and before we start making our kumbucha we have a couple of questions…..
First, once we have our scoby (ordering online) and made our first batch do we re use the old scoby with the new one that’s hopefully been formed on the top? Or do we just use the new scoby?
However if a new scoby hasn’t formed do we go ahead and use the old one? If so how long does the original scoby keep going?
Secondly, if we’re not ready to start another batch straight away from our starter how can this be stored until we’re ready to make another batch?

I know it is un-professional, but all I could think while watching the video was: "Yeah Matt Gaetz, No! Margot Robbie (standing next to a woman who actually knows how to make proper food, for both adults and children, and is mildly presentable), comes off as extremely Mid." Loved the video, and the brain behind it. Come make Kombucha for me and my friends anytime. Men need a partner, not a professional actress. Looks fade, caring for yourself, so you can for others is timeless.

I love your videos. Been enjoying the booch for awhile. 10 bucks for two bottles (worth it though) or 10 bottles for the same price. WAY easier to brew than beer. So I have experience with that. Kombucha is pretty sweet for my gut biome and lots of other benefits. Cures the soda itch. It's filling, It's tasty, refreshing, and unique. I'm a fan. Thanks for exploring it in your videos. Big help.

Thank-you for this great video. Another hidden gem on YT that should have many more views than it does.
I think your addition of sugar at the tea brewing stage was a little premature but you explained your reasoning well. I also wouldn't add sugar at the second fermentation stage, the fructose in the fruits is plenty, even if it means waiting a day or two longer. However that is a preference not a rule. I'm now off to watch the SCOBY hotel video.
