I wish sports officials (refs, umps etc) were allowed to use a little discretion.. What he did clearly had no bearing on the play. DeJean wasn't trying to fool anyone and Minnesota defenders didn't back off. It should be like not calling pass interference if a throw isn't catchable. Common sense.

this call is beyond horrible.

I was at this game, and Iowa fans were PO'd! They were throwing stuff at the field and even threw bottles at the buses after the game. I was dumbfounded by the call, and I do feel Iowa was robbed, but leave the bus drivers alone, fellas. They're just doing their jobs.

Can you make a fair catch when the ball is bouncing on the ground? I thought you had to actually catch it in the air? Are we all saying that if he had fumbled it on the way to the endzone that it would have still been Iowa's ball?

Not sure I understand how this was a reviewable play when the fair catch wasn’t whistled or called during the play itself?

I don't have a horse in this race, but I thought you couldn't use replay to find a new penalty. You have to call the penalty first and then verify it via replay. Did any ref call a penalty or throw a flag before replay began?

So if "thats correct" how come the play wasnt blown dead by whistle like every other fair catch?
