Elastica 'Connection' TOTP (1994) HD

This song is bloody timeless! Still sounds fresh and original in the year of our Lord 2024. Watching this on TOTP back in the day was my bi awakening...girls with guitars 😻

I saw Annie at Victoria Station in about 1997. She looked a drug addled mess. Shame as I quite fancied her.

Great song, still sounds good 2023.

Love this song and love covering it on my guitar, but one thing stands out that bothers me.
Why are they not actually playing and is just a track. It's like watching an amateur band play Connection. Wtf. They can pull it off live.

Justine is a big fan of 70s punk band Wire. The opening of Connection is from the Wire song Three Girl Rhumba.

She was in relationship with Brett Anderson from Suede and later on with Damon Albarn from Blur! Damn they both showed their gratitude of her because of her influence!

Elastica were so underated at the time

So funny how the guitars and bass are not plugged in, would it of sounded as good if they had of used their instruments, I did not see it but I guess the Marshall on the drums were off too, so it begs the question TOTP, or either Elastica were not good live Remember they only managed 1 album, in my days nothing was ever live even though you got told, if guitars and bass are not plugged in its fake.

I was really into this tune back in the 90’s
I used to play it on my guitar!

Forgot about them....killer tune!!!

those days when there were real artists..

Sadly, I remember that not all of my fellow Americans were as enamored as I was (and still am) with Justine, Donna, Annie, and Justin, when they first hit the airwaves over here in the States; the local commercial Alternative station (KNDD-FM in Seattle) was playing "Connection" fairly regularly from the time it appeared over here, which I always looked forward to. As an Industrial Design major at Uni in northern Washington State, in between winter and spring quarters, our program made our annual tour of various design studios on the West Coast to meet with active professionals. In 1995, we hit the road as a group, headed down to San Francisco and the Bay Area for our week-long studio tour for that year. One of the stops we made in San Fran was at a rather well-known (now defunct) purveyor of rather pricey and avant-garde furnishings/interior design, where coincidentally, "Connection" came on over their stereo system whilst we were there. One of the staffers, who fronted like they were also of the sort into the alt-music scene, audibly remarked negativity about the band and this song. I clearly recall thinking that they were a bit of a nonce, and my impression of the firm diminished a few ticks after overhearing that. 😄
