I love how non newfies attempt to pronounce Newfoundland like we do. Newfinland. Not newfoundlind or newfinlind lol
ОтветитьDon't you just love the accent on the captain.
ОтветитьDid anybody explain to you why they were asking you about dirt and root vegetables? Our ancestors accidently brought potato blight here during the big potatoe famine in Ireland. So they are trying to contain the disease to the island. Such a thing would completely devastate Prince Edward Island!!!
ОтветитьWait the rv was on the ferry correct how much was it for round trip
ОтветитьWhat month? Did you go
ОтветитьJust made the same trip by bus and ferry this summer. The ferry operates from my home town. Great to see a fellow vet from down south travel our beautiful country. Thank you for your service.
ОтветитьAfraid the last time I took a ferry was from Bandirma to Tekirdag Turkey by bus then on to the international airport in Istanbul on my way back to the states. I was stationed at a remote site in Turkey while in the USAF. The bus ride from the town outside the site to Bandirma was 8hrs, then another 3-4 on the ferry, then another couple of hours to the airport. In all it took 24 hrs to reach my destination (Orlando FL). Did this 4 times round trip. Have to say I had many adventures while serving in the USAF and would do it again in a minute! Cheers Retired E7
ОтветитьGet rid of your selfie stick!!!
Ответитьi always take the over night ferry because there isn't much to do other than sleep anyway.
Ответитьis the 7 hour only sail time or does it include onboarding/security check and offboarding?
ОтветитьGreat video! We are spending next summer in the Atlantic Providences and we were wondering about the ferry! I figure with the fuel cost of going back from St Johns to Channel-Port aux Basques - it would almost pay to leave from Argentia, NL. Would y'all agree? We are looking forward to the series!

Love the info , enthusiasm and charities of your channel. I am Canadian and in 2022 I, my wife and little Gidget (morkie) 2 yr old puppy did a cross Canada RV trip to Newfoundland and return from British Columbia in a Winnebago 29" Class C with a 4 down manual 2013
toyota matrix toad. Native of Nova Scotia, the only province or territory of Canada never visited was Newfoundland & Labrador. We chose to sail from North Sydney to Argentia with a cabin booked. The return passage was booked from Port aux Basque to North Sydney without a cabin. Met so many people that just wanted to sit and talk that day passages are a quick passage of time. This plan was to only have to drive the 1100 km Trans Canada hwy once across the province. We did not need/book a cabin on the return passage of 7 hours. We did book kennel for Gidget for the overnight passage to Argentia but at the last minute reading the fine print of the kennel arrangement we cancelled that booking. Gidget is very familiar with the RV and is also pad trained. Her pad is placed in the shower floor and she knows to do her business there. Unfortunately the passage extended to 22 hours due to a major gale preventing the docking at Argentia. My distraught wife concerned about Gidget convinced the Purser and Captain to allow her accompanied a visit to the lower deck to check on her dog. Gidget greeted the crew member at the driver side front window with such barking and aggression that all concluded that she was in great shape. The point of the feedback was that the $1,100 fare from North Sydney to Argentia is offset by the wear & tear, fuel, nightly accommodation cost and vacation time of having to do the Hwy 1 both ways. We did not find Hwy 1 an enjoyable ride for the most part because of the rough road conditions...at least for our rig.
I love that you are pronouncing Argentia correctly.
ОтветитьI would have loved to see your vacation to The Rock
Ответитьlove the captain Newfoundland accent
ОтветитьSOLO 70 year old travel gal took the 7 hr. ferry trip to The Rock with a rental car, then drove the entire East side to L'ANSE AUX MEADOWS, the 1,000 year old Norse settlement at the Northern fingertip of Newfoundland. Driving onto the ferry was a breeze, found a cushy recliner (no reservations at the time) and tried to catch a few winks. Later caught another ferry to Labrador and was so fascinated by the very different terrain and geology. Lovely people everywhere. Was in all Canadian Maritime Provinces in one trip. Highly recommended!
ОтветитьThank you for all the information , we are thinking of going there in June 2024, very helpful.
ОтветитьWe also went to Newfoundland this summer so you can imagine my surprise as I'm watching you go back to your RV and I see my car parked a couple rows over from your RV. We had an awesome 10 days on The Rock and hopefully people watching these videos will get a small taste of it's beauty. Cheers from Nova Scotia!
ОтветитьI live in north Sydney! Love meeting tourists that come through
ОтветитьYou should do a video series on Newfoundland during the winter months. Won't be so idyllic then will it LOL
ОтветитьYes, I was on that ferry in the middle of winter. Got a stateroom below up forward. Was pleased because it was a 4 man stateroom but I had it all to myself. Quick shower and jumped into bed was asleep in seconds. Very comfortable. Then we left harbor and almost immediately started breaking ice. Holy shit the noise was deafening ! Yes, I learned the hard way...
Ответитьgreat information
ОтветитьHi guys, I hate to ask but has Gizmo crossed the rainbow? I haven't seen him lately.
ОтветитьOne of the best videos I have seen. Thank You!
Ответитьland not lind
ОтветитьNiiiice Stateroom 👍🇺🇲🇨🇦 Glad I found your channel. Looking forward for more videos.
Ответитьcan i get an all the info on how u planned the whole trip???? sounds like something i would like to do. just don't have a clue how to do it. did u take a ferry to nova scotia first??
ОтветитьGreat Vid, hope you enjoyed our great country/stay and your helpful hints. AND YES it is the ROCK. We love that you made your choice to visit us and we will return the favour soon.
ОтветитьWelcome to Canada. Next time you may want to try the west coast and rocky mountains. Banff up to Jasper on hwy 93 is breath taking.
ОтветитьThis is just like the beautiful ferry from Nanaimo to Vancouver Island BC.
ОтветитьWas the round trip price in USD or Canadian dollars? Thanks for the video!
ОтветитьWhat great experiences riding the ferries! Thanks for sharing! 😊
ОтветитьGreat vid. Question, which vid is where you visit that treehouse?
Ответитьjust returned from 10 days in NFLD and spending time with someone very special . The rock is the last province either of us has ever visited and was so worth it. Without a doubt I wasted many years not visiting this amazing province and I am planning a subsequent trip when possible . Wonderful people ,sights, excellent highways , good food and the only thing we didn't do was see icebergs ( too late in the year ). Next time in mid to late June.
ОтветитьThe word "tour" 8s not 0ronounced "toor"
ОтветитьYea!! I was stationed in Argentina, Newfoundland in the early 90’s!! So awesome.
ОтветитьCan you not stay in your rig?
ОтветитьAwesome vids guys, just came across your channel. I grew up 10 mintues from the ferry on the NS side. You did well to understand the Captain, a true Newfoundlander!!!
ОтветитьGood pic guys. We've been there and done that. Great holiday. Fly and rent a car or take your own which is better in the long run. Take the overnite ferry to Argentia (near St Johns), travel around the island and then back on the day ferry from Port Aux Bas. Another great place to go in Canada. Book well ahead as it's becoming a popular thing to do.
ОтветитьThere is a Campground in Argentia right near the ferry dock with pull through sites.
ОтветитьHave not seen you Two for a while. Very happy see you again
ОтветитьLearn how to pronounce Newfoundland, you should have heard enough locals say it
ОтветитьI watched one of your previous videos in which you had the power cable from your rv to the toad come off and get dragged and damaged. I meant to comment on that video but can’t find it now. Anyway, I was concerned that would happen to us, so I started zip tying the cord on each end. I put a zip tie around the cord and then another to the rv and toad and tied them together. Just a suggestion if you haven’t already thought of it. Totally enjoy your channel. We are several weeks behind you in our travels from Florida to Nova Scotia and PEI. Your videos have been greatly informative.
ОтветитьIf you travel to Washington state and use the ferry system be aware of the tides. Minimum of a 4 foot tide level to maximum of 8 feet. This is for our Motorhome rear bumper clearance.
ОтветитьWelcome to Canada so much to see and do. Haven’t made it to Newfoundland so far.
Got to the Cabot Trail and experienced 5 days of rain and fog
Interesting video. It must have cost you a lot of gas money to run the RV up there.
ОтветитьThanks for taking the trip and sharing the information 💁♀️ 😊
ОтветитьGreat video and love all your videos. We plan to go there next summer, because my wife has family there. I have two questions about the ferry. 1) is the cost you shared in US dollars or Canadian dollars? 2) How far in advance do you recommend making the reservation for the ferry? Thank you and keep up the great work!
ОтветитьGreat Information, makes planning our journey to Nova Scotia a little easy “THANKS” 😊
