Prius strange noise while braking and after shutof

You ever find a solution to the problem or where it was coming from?

Nope... It's worse now. I am told by the people at Toyota that is something that was recalled for a while but then they took away the recall. Apparently they say it's just a noise and nothing dangerous, and to replace the part is like 3500 bucks... Pretty sucky

Now, everytime I hit my brakes my car makes a loud barking noise

I believe its normal, mine does that evey time I brake and when opening door too, I watched many videos about this, anyone can confirm its normal ? Or prepare some $$$

Braking booster actuator with problem. The pump have to regularly bring up the pressure. If you don’t fix the actuator problem quickly you will change the pump too. Sorry. Same problem in my Highlander. Common in many Toyota Lexus hybrid systems.

No it’s not normal the 1st electric sound is normal the last sound is not I owned more than 4 Prius

This has to do with the emission systems or brake pumps

It’s the pump that maintains brake pressure. Many newer cars have electronic emergency brakes, and there is a pump for them. If the noise quits, you got a problem, if the noise runs too long, you got a problem, if the noise starts, stops and restarts over and over…yup, you got a problem. 😮

Just to be clear, you should hear it run for a quick minute or less when you shut down the car, also as soon as you open the door. But they can develop an internal leak through the solenoid controlled valves, that can’t be repaired. You have to replace the whole assembly, and yes, it’s very expensive. FYI, eBay finds are most often junkyard pulls and that’s rolling the dice. They all don’t fail, so you wanna gamble—I think it’s a good bet and far cheaper. Not too hard to do, just need a scanner to bleed the system though. 👍🏼

I have a 09 nissian hybrid and it’s doing the same knocking noise. Can sure feel it in the pedal to, did you fix it? If so what went?

its defo some thing wrong..mines same ..i have changed the o/s rear caliper, then mechanic bleeds the brakes to reset with a computer,after 2 days im having the same issue

I'm sure you figured it out by now, but the Prius does a ABS self test about a minute after turning the car off. First buzz is the electric brake booster, second pop and grind noise is the ABS pump checking each wheel.
