I've always preferred the grill and tail assembly of the 71--which is the model I owned. The one thing I don't like about the 72 was that pesky seat belt light...not only was it irritating but it ruined that beautiful dashboard.
Ответитьvery nice mercury, thanks for sharing👍
ОтветитьIncredibly handsome.
Ответитьive had three of these, and some 71s. along withe the LTD these two years and models are probably my favorite cars.
ОтветитьWorld's best shoulder haunches on 2-door '71 and '72 Mercury large cars!
ОтветитьSo many of these got derbied without a moment's thought to how wonderful they were to drive. The Mark series Lincolns from this era were very similar. I have a '75 MkIV with 460 and this car reminds me a lot of what owning it is like. Having a coupe of this size all to yourself is indescribable.
ОтветитьIt’s bro ham
ОтветитьNot a big fan of Ford products. But that car is spectacular. Definitely can see the superior fit and finish. The interior is gorgeous
ОтветитьMy favourite car of all time is the 1969 (or even 1970) Mercury Marquis Convertible. Such a rare car to see or even hear anything about. If you have the opportunity to review one, that would be a special treat.
ОтветитьNow that's a car!
ОтветитьI have always wished that I was of age back from the mid sixties to the late seventies.. Then I realize I would be even more broke than I am now because literally all of the money id make I would buy cars with.. IMO I would be the happiest person with no money you ever met😬👍🇺🇸
Ответитьits pronounced Bro! Ham!
Ответитьid give you 14k right now
ОтветитьAbsolutely outstanding car!! I spy the 1972 factory service manuals in the trunk! 😉
ОтветитьThis generation of vehicles were total long range cruisers ! Nice -
ОтветитьThose seats are just gorgeous!
ОтветитьWhen you were mentioning how some trim features come and go depending on the model year, it reminded me of all the times I've heard people say that they thought they were buying a newer version of the car they loved, but after a few weeks they noticed what had been thrifted on the car they jsut bought and it made them upset. I've also heard people complain where series or option package content changes and they know they can't replicate their current car without overshooting the price to catch the features that were formerly included on vehicles at a lower price point.
ОтветитьThese cars were garbage. My dad had one.
Ответитьis it for sale?
Ответить👍👍👍
ОтветитьI was 16 when my parents bought a brand new 1978 Grand Marquis. I learned to drive on that thing. It was a magnificent car. Fully loaded except the sunroof. There has never been a more quieter, smoother ride than the Marquis up to the '78 model. I'd give anything to have that car today - even with its gas guzzling 400 V8.
ОтветитьThat thing is museum on wheels! Great video!
ОтветитьThank you for sharing your video of this mint condition 1972 mercury marquis brougham !
Truly remarkable how comfortable it looks ! ❤
You're driving my late father's vehicle.
He actually owned the '71 Marquis 4 Door model.
With the 429 4 - BBL factory carburetor. Which had the rim strip for his horn.
With the factory cruise control.
He had the vehicle for 7 years.
Until moving our family to Salt Lake City.
Where he traded it for a '72 Chrysler New Yorker land yacht 4 Door.
With the 440 Hemi underneath.
Still a fine cruiser.
Not in the same class as the '71 Marquis Brougham.
Now THAT Vehicle was in a class all its own. That I personally wished Dad would've kept.
Now.
I'm languishing for one.
It'd be my go to vehicle.
Providing I'm unable to find a good diesel '81 - '89 Mercedes C and E Class rides.
Thank you for bringing back the memories.
Of a bygone era
Of well made.
Quality Crafted Vehicles.
By Ford
Lincoln.
Mercury.
My new 77 Ford LTD Had it all sedan, floated on a cloud from Calif to Seattle ,,car was truly a boat,,but did the job without any problems,,,wait one..the small power operated windwing. Window motor failed,,…was great for a smoker at the time..by the way i cold turkey, as they say in 1983 never missed them.
ОтветитьGorgeous car!
Ответитьeven nicer than that pontiac i saw earlier...
ОтветитьIS A BEAUTIFUL CAR
ОтветитьI had a 78 two-door Mercury Marquis fender skirts 460 sold it to a friend of mine that needed a car I should have kept it
ОтветитьWow - what a dope!!! The guy, not the car.
ОтветитьHey hi me again
I commented on your 68 park lane, as dad had the 67.
Also what do you know . . .
Dad traded that 67 410 merc prklane in on a 75 grand marquis 460. What a cruising boat.
That thing like u said would float.
I remember cruising w my friends in it one time giving it the gas and didnt realize how fast over 80 i was going til i actually looked at the speedo. Very smooth ride, and yea the hp was even rated lower for the 75, l think 195 hp (probably rated at the rear wheels ???) but the torque was grand or so it seemed. Like u said if u wanted to move quick it would hussel fairly well considering. With a waping 10 mi or so to the gallon. All that emisions stuff, lower compression. One of the smoothest riding cars for sure.
If gas was still only 50 cents an imperial gallon.
Trudea helped us, I think w the metric system. NOT.
My father had this same car color In 4 dr so much bigger
ОтветитьAbsolutely beautiful car! In fact, I may love it more because I learned to drive in a 1971 model.... my Dad's car. It was just before he traded it in for a '76 Grand Prix which, in fairness, was a very fun car to drive but not as comfortable.
The '71 Marquis was the first car my Dad ever purchased with a V8 and automatic transmission. Earlier models were, by and large, Chevys with inline sixes and 3 in the tree. My favourite of those earlier models he had was one similar to Adam's Frankenstein '59 Pariesienne... but it was the '59 Biscayne - the "value" Impala with a 6 and 3 speed. A Canadian car so I believe it was the 261 cid as opposed to the 235.... it was the car I came home from the hospital after my birth.
I've owned many wonderful pieces of Detroit Iron, myself, and I'm loving the content here... memories galore!
My own first car was a '70 Delta 88 Custom hardtop with a 455-2V.... the 2V for "economy"! But 310 gross hp and gobs of torque made it one peppy land barge!
Edit: my Dad's first car was a '39 Hudson... bought in '45... quite a machine!
My 1971 mercury brom was the best riding car I ever owned and the 429 4barl carb would run I had to 149 mph
ОтветитьIs that a blue jay squawking
At 10 minutes ?
Where is the heater core on this car???
ОтветитьMy mom had a red one. She loan it to me when I went on dates. Chicks dug it.
ОтветитьAdam, have you recorded a video about how you started your auto collection, and how you support it? Thanks for the great storytelling!
ОтветитьAny idea where I can get a set of replacement keys my son locked his in the trunk today
ОтветитьMy Dad had one like this in 4dr. He said it was the favorite car he had owned, and he had hundreds if not thousands in his lifetime. Many of those were Cadillacs and Lincolns, his favorite was that old Mercury.
ОтветитьMy favorite of your collection. I saw it in your storage garage in another episode and hoped you'd bring it out. Love the color and form.
Ответить1972 to the auto industry was what 1939 was to the movie industry. both were the end of an era.
ОтветитьWhat was really nice about this era was that the awesome person could afford this beautiful car . You had a luxurious ride inside and out. If you want a luxury ride now, the price tag is outrageous , ridiculous in fact .
ОтветитьSuch a beautiful car!
ОтветитьMercury really did a great job of building an elegant full size automobile 😊
ОтветитьI was today years old when i realized there are no cars that still have the door pop knobs in that location anymore...😔
ОтветитьUnder the hood.
ОтветитьI completely agree that is a great car! If it were mine I would have to add cruise control :)
