This is a pretty good breakdown of the films!
ОтветитьChristopher Doyle cinematography. his films without Doyle don't have that.
ОтветитьThis is why people don’t like hearing the story behind a song. The story happens. It’s nice to have analysis, but honestly, it’s better just to experience
ОтветитьBe careful. The camera is less than the story
Ответитьdon't know why this came up on my feed 'cause I never heard of Wong Kar-wai, but i'm glad it did.
ОтветитьBeautiful video
ОтветитьLol i teared up watching this video on "wherever if with you" moment
ОтветитьBecause he is the best artist of the last 60years
ОтветитьSuch an amazing video essay. You are so inspiring! I just created my first video essay and it was on Chungking Express also by Wong Kar-Wai. I absolutely loved making it and am so excited to start another. Would love to hear your thoughts or feedback if you are ever interested! Keep crushing it.
Ответитьas a person with astigmatism and a terrible eyesight i can confirm that i have been living in wong kar wai’s world all these time
ОтветитьMy favorite director, in the mood for love is my favorite. Such a visionary. Thanks for the breakdown.
ОтветитьAnalysis nailed! I just got introduced to this director, love his movies so far 2 days in a row and i can't wait for the weekend so i can stream more of his work. He really makes you reflect with a smile rather than sit wonder and regret. S/o to Mubi
ОтветитьI lost this video and now I have found you again.
ОтветитьThe Grandmaster is my absolute favorite
Ответитьaww, feels so good. dreamy, heartache yet heartwarming. Weird but thats life. a dreamy pic of life.
ОтветитьThank you for this great and Illuminating analysis of his movies
ОтветитьIn the Mood for Love was clearly the most mesmerizing movie I've ever seen in my life. I saw it for the first time on Turner Classic Movies a few years ago I came home from work and turned it on and the opening credits are beginning and I probably hardly moved a muscle until it was done and when it was done I just couldn't believe what it happened I'd never experienced anything like that in the movie before. Due in no small part to the slow-motion pans of Maggie Cheung, the seductive soundtrack and his Australian cinematographer
ОтветитьI love that chungking express reminds me of my visit to hongkong in the 90s. I just love the feeling that the movie gave me.
ОтветитьUh... heroin.
Ответитьthank you <333
ОтветитьChunking Express is enchanting, especially the actress Faye Wong. She is absolutely the unique one.
Ответить100 percent WKW film is my go to comfort movies
ОтветитьI hope you can make a video about Fallen Angels as well! Very interested to hear your thoughs about it.
ОтветитьHis films never disappoint.
ОтветитьNow there is the laundry and taxes scene in EEAAO which is truly a Homage to Wong Kar Wai
ОтветитьGreat cinematography...great acting...great screenplays. What is not to love about WKW films?
ОтветитьWhere can I watch WKW films now (2023) as I don't think they are currently screening on Mubi? I have several of his films on DVD - but I'm missing Chungking Express from my collection - and I would love to see the restored collection?
ОтветитьHomosexuality is not portrayed here, but it is real enough in Wong Kar-wai's universe, and ' Happy Together ' a solid statement in comparison with ' In the Mood for Love ' which is not. ' Happy Together ' hinted at but avoided at the same time. Heterosexuality is dominant, because if homosexuality had been shown explicitly, the heteronormative would have been put into jeopardy.
Ответитьwow ^^ definitely will subscribe to your channel ♡
ОтветитьChristopher Doyle shot a couple of his films they were beautiful
ОтветитьI watched it everytime i got free all channel at indihome telkom indonesia and never get bored. Maggie cheung are just different from her act at regular 80s 90s hongkong movie. Since i was a child in 90s i always watched late night hongkong movie and my fave actress are maggie cheung and sylvia chang, oh also idy chan hairy armpit at return of condor heroes 🤭 but wong kar wai movie are just not like any other hong kong movie. I got that lowlight vibrant satiration atmosphere when using cinestill film with analogue camera 💖
Did u said David fincher
ОтветитьWKW films are basically Liminal Spaces: The Movie.
ОтветитьWhat are the first and second song names?
ОтветитьA Great video on such a great director
ОтветитьThese are poetic pieces. This made me get emotional. Thank you
ОтветитьWunderbar
ОтветитьYou could almost taste the sourness of loneliness in Takeshi Kaneshiro's canned pineapples and Tony Leung's chef salads.
Ответитьwhat music did you use?
ОтветитьBeautiful sound
ОтветитьI could listen to the monologue about the pineapples in a loop.
ОтветитьWong Kar-Wai is kind of the the Asian equivalent of Terence Malik
Ответить
