How I finally Found my Art Style doing only 1 thing

What I love of this video is not just the neat yet very down to earth style you chose for the editing and setting, which obviously portrays how you are, but especially the fact you immediately get into the core of the topic, showing both you have relevant things to say and you respect your viewers. That's the most important point to me, do I appreciate you.

And your style Is sooo wonderful❤ YOU are so right on all of this-Don’t overcomplicate just do something everyday…I’ve been going through this too-I’m not as far along or structured with mine, I’m mostly keeping the idea in my body that I am a person who creates daily…because one day it will but it will be my art, not my job , that’s bringing me money and supporting me. If you’re looking for a “style” you’re focusing on the wrong aspects of art-making, and you’ll never be an artist. Style is secondary. Inconsequential even. Never look for a style. Instead, ask yourself why you make art. What are you trying to communicate? To who? To what end? Whatever you call “style” is only a by-product that exists to service the primary purpose of art-making. Thinking about “style” is a perfect example of putting the cart before the horse, and a solid indicator that as an “artist,” you’re woefully misguided.

I’ve been meaning to create a webcomic since 2014, but I only recently got a new iPad for Christmas 2023, which I can use to draw digitally.

What I love to draw most is mainly my cast of characters, especially my female characters, who’s diverse personalities and body shapes draw inspiration from Steven Universe and the Netflix reboot of She-Ra.

Apart from that, I also like to draw my characters’ mutual spaceship, which is meant to draw inspiration from the spaceships from Treasure Planet.

You are one of the most incredible artists I've ever seen. I can't tell you how much I love your work. I've been trying to find a style for 40 years. I have excellent taste in OTHER people's art, but no style of my own.

I'm glad I watched this. The arrangement in the things in your timeline are the same as mine. However, I have not found my style yet....I think I know what my signature style is, like what most of what my drawings lean towards (my drawings look cute most of the time lol)... but is it okay to desire and achieve another style?

This was absolutely the best advice I've come across since I started drawing. I'm enjoying the journey and trying to just go with it, which is a different mindset for me. Thank you! Your artwork is lovely.

This was very helpful! I have old sketchbooks from several years ago where I drew and painted different people, and when I look at them now I'm amazed at how good I was! Back then I drew several times a week. I haven't drawn for a few years now but I'm going to start again. Your art is beautiful 💖

I would love to see what it looks like to loosen your hand… what does it look like to draw from your brain vs your hand… I think I struggle with this, I find myself controlling my pencil too much it doesn’t feel free… would you also suggest any drawing excercises to help with this perhaps… just an idea! I like using different palettes e.g: glass, baking sheets, foil, ceramic, china, surfaces other than those plastic palettes that stain and are so hard to properly clean for reuse. 🧡🌱

Your uninteresting story is my story. Word by word. Except that I’m still not drawing and thinking about how do I make illustration my one and only thing that gives me income. Still working as a graphic designer. The advice you give in this video might be the one thing that finally gets me started. It makes ALL the sense. Doing this allows one to find a pattern, that one thing that’s unique to you. Also, your cat drawings are divine ❤️… and hand gestures are a must for explanations LOL latinamerican here 🖐️
