This show fucked me up more them any other show on tv haha. They had something really briljant and unexpected. That was the way to go.. and they flipped the script back to Otis and Maeve. One of the biggest writing let downs ive witness. This really felt like nahh this is not what it could have been. Both should spoken out in the scene at the gas station, explaining they both found someone else. Instead of making out.

I strongly believe that Otis and ruby were a perfect match😭they deserve justice they should have been together for season 4 or maybe even season 5 if that's going to happen. Cause Otis and ruby had something special and i think Otis does love ruby he just needed a push but Eric thought maeve was good for him not knowing that Otis felt happy around Ruby when she said I love you Otis I almost cried cause they had chemistry 😭I hope there's a season 5 so they can fix the mistakes or ask the fanbase about what the ending should be like cause man😢 Otis and ruby could have been the best couple in the series .Cause they both are the reason I made it to season 4 I love them ❤

The last is really terrible. I hate the ending. Writer brought them together only to break our heart again💔 the first ever love story of Otis and Maeve that made cry half the night. The whole show is just Otis losing over and over. Sometimes real life gets in the way of love. Life isn't a fairytale. So I actually love this ending. If only feeling love was enough of a glue to hold on to someone forever.....

Probably a case of the actors' chemistry and performances or that thing in creative writing when they tell you at a certain point, the story and characters start writing themselves, but after watching the entire series, I do think Maeve was Otis' first love that he had to learn from and let go of at some point, and Ruby was the more organic relationship. Despite the parts where he was letting her dress him and doting after her, there are several scenes here where they both let go of any melodrama or social standing and allowed themselves to be themselves with one another.

Similar to HIMYM probably should have listened to what the 9 years of character development was telling them, Sex Education probably should have explored this relationship more. While just rewatching it, I guess their final interaction is an open-ended question mark, I initially took it as they weren't even friendly anymore, which would have been a shame and terrible place to end it.

What I hate about this show was that Meave never seemed to respect Otis and saw him as the nerd she was too good for (3/4 of of the first season at least) and Ruby straight up respected him way more even though she saw him as a hookup partner at first. Meave hooked up with that athlete and did a bunch of stuff to hurt Otis while Ruby genuinely was just so much better for otis.
Ruby and Otis are the only real couple in this relationship: IDK why it is so common that we go for things that are bad for us or that hurt us instead of just choosing to go for things that are right and genuine for us. I think that Otis likes Maeve because she brought him out of the bubble he was in when starting out but Ruby made him more comfortable with himself and confident in himself. He is gonna miss out on a keeper by being with Meave.
Edit: Otis needs to get with Ruby and move forward because Maeve always played with him, his feelings and his time/attention/energy. Ruby kinda was down from the start and the actual gem that he needs.
