First of all you should start from alphabets of Urdu... and saying those alphabets... then forming words from those Alphabets... Then meaning of those words and then using those words in a sentence... then grammar and tenses etc...etc..

It is also less daunting to know that if I cant remember a word that i can just fill in with the english one and still be understood, "mein sick hoon". This way of teaching is amazing, I can speak Arabic and English, and Urdu will be my third language.

Urdu is not just language of Pakistan, but in india too, in northern states like UP, Punjab etc. They have urdu as subject in their boards. I also had urdu as optional in 9th and 10th, but our teachers were not good at all, they just made us do learn and not understand.

I know how to speak urdu but can't write.

Writing urdu is difficult.

Urdu is 99% similar to hindi btw
