I was curious how the stove is doing 4 yrs later? We are considering one in our house. Do you do all your canning on it? I wasn't sure that the top was sturdy enough for a large canner.
Any advice you can give would be most appreciated.
this one was real cool to me,bc now ik everything i need to know about hooking up a propane stove,so thx.
ОтветитьWhat kind of hose and connection did u use to connect the propane tank to the stove
ОтветитьAnyone know if this is standard around the world? I’m in Australia… thanks for showing us even if it doesn’t work down under!
ОтветитьI'm going to order this stove because of your instructions on how to convert this to propane. Ty ty - it will be a two month wait but we have a camp stove.
ОтветитьGreat demonstration video 👍
ОтветитьYou are so good at instructions 👏👏👏👏👏
ОтветитьIs there just one orifice shared between the oven/broiler? I'm actually doing the reverse conversion (LPG > Natural Gas) and can't figure out how many orifices should be down there.
Also curious how long your 5 gal LPG tank would last if used just for cooking?
Do you need a 11" water column regulator on the tank or a 2 psi regulator on the tank or can the range be run directly from the tank?
ОтветитьWatching you do things like this and your instruction style reminds me of my dad. I always wanted to watch what he was doing, so he started narrating everything so that I could learn.
ОтветитьLooks like the stove has served you well over the years
ОтветитьInteresting to see there is a regulator on the propane tank and on the stove. Here in the uk we only have the regulator on the tank and to convert natural gas to propane we change the individual jets on each burner. Our property isn’t connected to mains gas and we have a 2000litre propane tank so we have to convert everything or buy specific lpg equipment.
ОтветитьI don't see new stoves with pilot lights anymore. Not sure if they were efficient anyhow. How much propane did they burn in a month? Anyway, seems for off-grid the next best ignition would be a battery operated spark. Nice vid, always good to see somebody who knows what they're doing with these stoves.
ОтветитьGreat video, love the spiral staircase!
ОтветитьEric... so blown away by your calm no nonsense attitude of installing your stove. You are truly AWESOME!
Thanks...
God bless...
Amazing how much you know.
ОтветитьI bought a new one converted to propane but I don't get that click noise even with new batteries
Ответитьhello from France it's a brass fitting from what i saw. i'm a new follower of your channel all the best
ОтветитьSo interested in this!! Thank you so much! Wish I had propane instead of electricity! So much better for cooking. Yes, to detector!!!
ОтветитьI pay National Grid (NYC) $16 "delivery fee" each month for using $2 worth of NG. Thanks for your video instruction! (That funny looking cat in my avatar climbs the fire escape here in NYC to eat and play w/my cat - reminds me of my native Northwoods in Minnesota...)
ОтветитьDo you need an orifice in the propane tank hose that connects to the stove ? What kind of reducers did you use ? Didn't get shot of the hose you use that connects to back of the stove !!!...
ОтветитьHello, just curious, how often do you guys need to refill on propane? I can't imagine trying to drive into town to fill up when the weathers horrible.
ОтветитьJust bought the 24" version. Thank you for uploading the vid - Excellent tutorial
Ответитьthose were a lot of steps but I guess it’s worth it
ОтветитьAnd the fitting on the end of the regulator has to be compatible with propane
ОтветитьWe need one of these stoves for our remote cabin as using the pilot lights probably uses more propane than our propane fridge.
ОтветитьWhoa! They make that super simple to convert from NG to LPG! We used to think that a kit would have to be acquired with different orifices and regulators. But it looks like it is just adjusting the screws. Thanks for showing this process! You guys rock! - Brian + Erin
ОтветитьAlaska has always been my dream when I retired. BUT, I got divorced & havr full custody of my 7 year old granddaughter, broke my back at work 3 years ago. So thank you for sharing your life with us and living my dream.
Also I have a friend that lives off the copper river next to wasabi. Something like that lol. Hes been in Alaska for a long time, his name is Cory Martin and his FB is Alone in Alaska Adventures. Look him up, he's a great person that will help you out with anything. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING
why dont you buy a propane oven at the first place?
ОтветитьThank you so much. I'm in a cabin by Queets and just put the same stove in. Very helpful.
ОтветитьOut in the country we use propane with 150 gal tank. Anyway when I changed my new stoves all I had to do was change the Jets to the burners and oven.
ОтветитьLet's hear it for the garbage man
ОтветитьBack home in England it’s required to have a propane or “explosive gas” detector installed when you’re using propane inside. It’s a heavy gas so it settles down low and slowly fills a space. I have one installed over here in CA even tho it’s not required. They are an inexpensive peace of mind.
ОтветитьVery nice how-to video. I work on vintage gas stoves, primarily O'Keefe & Merritts. They have adjustable orifice valves instead of fixed orifice valves, which makes NG/LP conversion simpler. Until today, I thought all modern gas stoves had fixed orifices, which seems a nuisance - having to keep track of little extra bits. Thanks to your video, I learned some modern stove brands also have adjustable orifices. Cool. I realize it isn't a permanent installation, but I was glad to see you had a portable propane tank for your stove. I plan to do that while working on my gas stove's conversion.
ОтветитьFrom what I've read a straight carbon monoxide detector will not detect a propane leak. You may wish to get a specific propane gas detector and install it at floor level (propane is heavier than air) between the stove and gas tank. Your CO detector may be designed to detect both CO and propane but you may not want them at the same location. I'd probably put the CO detector near my bed (so as not to die in my sleep) and the propane detector at floor level by the gas appliance, so that the building doesn't fill with propane before sounding the alarm.
ОтветитьWow! This was such a clear explanation. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Good camera work, too - not easy, I'm sure. Any idea how often you will need to refill the propane?
ОтветитьCan all cookers be converted? If so will the process be the same as what you’ve done? Thanks
ОтветитьGreat video Very Helpful
ОтветитьGood info to have regarding stoves. Thank you.
ОтветитьI missed the conversion of our Premier stove so enjoyed this video. We started out with this stove and went to a 36" with full top grates that make it easier to move large pots. If possible you can also buy a "pig" propane tank that can be filled by the delivery truck and also can be taken to town if needed. Your video's are very informative, thank you!
ОтветитьWow very technical Eric. Ariel with her scientific explanations of soils, feed and stuff.
Keep it up..
In the far East the stove came ready for the propane cannister.
New to watching your guys's channel how do you guys upload your video do you guys have internet at your cabin or do you have to go into town
Ответитьcarbon monoxide does NOT "tend to rise" it is the opposite it settles. You need the detector lower and closer to the source to detect leaks early. Please be safe.
ОтветитьI burn 2 100lbs a year for my stove in winter i got small battery car blankets duct taped on the tank its 115 v power but it work after minus 20 Celsius you need heat for the propane not to freeze
You can always have a small tank inside for cold days
Take care be safe
¿Eso es legal en EUA? Se me ocurren por lo menos 10 normas que estarían rompiendo en Argentina. LOL Awesome. No es crítica, eh. O si. Pero para nuestro exceso de regulaciones. Saludos. // Is that legal in the US? I can think of at least 10 rules that would be breaking in Argentina. LOL Awesome. It's not critical, eh. Or if. But for our excess regulations. Greetings. ОтветитьEvery toolbox should have socket wrench’s in addition to pliers. Good info, but please encourage using the right tools. Thanks for sharing. Cheers
ОтветитьThis from a website: Heat and smoke rise, which is why we place smoke alarms high on the wall or ceiling. Carbon monoxide, however, mixes with the air. For this reason, it is preferable to install CO alarms at knee level – the approximate height of a sleeping person’s nose and mouth.
