Right now I'm searching for this song because we sang it in a voice class I took in the summer between high school and college.
I found two versions that were far too slow for my taste. This one seems about the same tempo-- and yet I listen because Nina Simone's voice is mesmerizing.

Just heard this song on Many Moods of Ben Vaughn on 88.5 WXPN, and it's arresting and haunting melody and performance stopped me in my tracks.
