I think this is a gross oversimplification. For anyone who’s read the story Chevy was complaining about how they made his character racist and said, “at this point Pierce might as well say n——.” So he didn’t say it with any malice, but obviously was not being sensitive about the nature of the word. As the video touches on, there were about a hundred other reasons for him to leave the show when he did. It wasn’t all about the tension with Chevy on set.

Like I get it, and looking out for yourself, but... Community was an A+ cult classic.
It never needed Chevy Chase, and probably should have pushed him out much sooner.

His cast friends were very supportive.
He wasn't the focus of the show but the dynamic changed.

Sad thing is if I never met the guy I would have so much sympathy, he’s such a self-centered narcissist though, he thought he was too good to shake my hand and just shook me off at a restaurant, I nicely approach him and tell him I am a fan and try to shake his hand, I don’t even ask for a photo, at the very least could’ve said I’m sorry I am with my friends/family having some drinks can you please leave us alone. Instead he looks at me like I’m some lowly trash not worthy of his time and then looks back at his friends, so arrogant, very unlike his character on that show.

There is one part of community that really gave me chills, one of my biggest fears are hospitals, psychiatric trances and asylums. The episode where they get gaslighted into thinking that they were in an asylum gave me a big scare. Another one of these is the single frame in G.I Jeff where the study group overlooks jeff while he is in the coma. That sent chills down my spine.

I am glad that he and everyone but Chevy chase is coming back for the community movie

It sucked but when he came out with Atlanta i was like oh man this is Raw as hell 😊

Troy and Abed shenanigans are some of the best moments in Community.

I just saw an entire documentary in a short

My understanding was that Chevy got so fed up with just how over-the-top bigoted his character was being written that he snapped after reading a script one day and said something to the effect of, "what next? Are you guys gonna have me say [the actual n-word] on camera next?"

That being said, even then he shouldn't have said it, and I get how that could and should make Glover feel a certain kind of way.

If it was a common thing though, then Chase was allowed to stay there way too long honestly.

Considering he was improvising all his best lines I don't blame him for wanting to make his own show.
