I think the glass panes are too close together, so the oil and water stick to them and create a lot of friction - making for less interesting waves. Still, a cool project! You could also add an obstacle.

This mechanism is exactly what I've been looking for! It will allow me to skip bunch of electronics and will make my project way more reliable :)

As for Your project. For next iteration: skip the legs. They clearly binding and result is jittery movement. Mount swing point directly to the tank steel frame. It will make entire thing shorter and more stable

Ehm... 6.20-6.24, left audio channel I suspect a...let's call "blooper" 🐷 sneaked in. I hope you can find a way to edit just the audio and keep the rest of the video

it might be a good idea to add something to the water to prevent algae, mold, bacteria, etc.
it's a common problem when water cooling computers, so there are products specifically designed for it as well as many other options
