When I film in 50fps I do have sound and in premiere I put the clips in a 25fps timeline. It will play then in realtime and I just apply slomo when I see the need. But I think you explained that shooting in 25fps is better because of the motion blur, right?
Ответить... Lol
ОтветитьI'm just going to use 60fps at normal speed for my videos and use 60 to 240 FPS for slow-mo depending on the speed
ОтветитьWhy is it 95° f outside?
ОтветитьI see a major quality improvement in 60 FPS over 30 FPS and forget 24 FPS. I am not doing slow motion, I guess my eyes are just more sensative to the flicker in lower frame rates. I will continue to shoot and master in 60 fps for more fluid results without the massive file size of going to a higher FPS level.
Ответитьwhat happens when you shoot 60/50 fps and don't slow it down, I see everyone in the weddings use it all the time but I don't know why ? any advantages to shooting high FPS without slowing it down ?
ОтветитьYeah, I'm not understanding how you can be shooting hockey players at 60 and then suddenly speed up to 120 for when they spray you with snow. Is there a button that speeds up the framerate, or are you literally stopping recording, changing settings, and then starting recording again to get that snow spray?
ОтветитьHi guys. I shoot property video, 80% of the video will be indoor only. Please may I know whether in my case, 4k 24fps is the most ideal for me? TIA
ОтветитьSo, if I record at 120fps what should I playback at to see at regular speed?
ОтветитьThanks man!
ОтветитьKind of confusing. You film in some frame rate YET you play it back at another rate . You didn’t film at 120fps, then also play it back at 120fps. It’s in “slow motion” so you are playing it back at a slower rate (slo mo). Confusing 🫤. What topic are you talking about , slow motion (filming at one rate then playing back at a slower rate) , or just different film rates played back at the rate they were filmed in. Example: 60fps / played back at 60fps looks unnatural , yet 60fps played back at 24 fps looks good and also has a “slow mo effect”. You made a how to video about slow motion NOT film rates.
ОтветитьThanks for this, now I know what it is.
ОтветитьAs a gamer this video is hilarious. Higher framerate doesn't = slowmo
Higher framerate just allows more frames to be captured or displayed per second thus displaying more information in the same amount of time, or, if you were to then slow that footage down capture more detail that would otherwise be missed.
Good ;)
ОтветитьAll this is assuming that you slow your footage to 24f/s, right? You can shoot in 120f and drop some frames to look normal speed and be 24f, but in some moments not drop frames and stretch them to achieve slowmo?
Sorry, just started learning, wanted clarification 😅
Awesome break down, thanks Mark.
ОтветитьIn your opinion.... stop telling people what to feel..if they want all slow let them do that lol
ОтветитьWhat framerate do you record at for every video, because most times you can't recreate the action and if you shot at 24fps you cannot generate the frames to make it in slo-mo
ОтветитьInsightful. Thanks. One rule I use is to use fps relative to my electrical power frequency. Here it is 50 Hz. So I use 25 for normal shooting, 50 for slow motion and 100 for extra slow motion. When the fps is not multiple of the power Hz, I get the screen blinking. After watching your video, one learning for me is, if the shooting is outside with no powered lighting, then I dont have to follow the power Hz multiple rule. Correct?
ОтветитьHow do you slow down certain aspects of the video it looks like the snow is not slowed on 120
ОтветитьThank you for highlighting the differences. My cameras currently only go 60 fps max so i've been debating how much ill ever want to film 120 fps vs 60 fps
Ответитьhello and thanks to this guide. please tell me where can i download sample video recorded by 120 fps without slow?
ОтветитьPlease respond to me. I wonder how much fps matter with games like Madden and NBA2K. Am I missing out on much by not using a tv that runs at 120fps. My current TV runs at 60fps and I'm not sure if I should upgrade my TV.
ОтветитьThank you for clarifying the frame. Now it has become very clear. Also, the frames differ between cameras. In short, 15&24 is a fast frame and 60&120 and the highest is slow motion .
ОтветитьMark, 120 fps is now equal to slow motion! 120 frames should happen in one second, I was looking for another type of video when I clicked.
ОтветитьQuestion, when im recording no my iPhone, moving it around at 24fps seems choppy. I always have to use 60 when im in motion and 24 when im still recording. Does this apply for cameras? Does my question make sense? lol
ОтветитьWhy can't we just have a perfect 70fps? Slightly better, not doesn't kill your storage
ОтветитьThen why in tf did I spend so much on a tv that gives my 120 for PS5 with hdmi 2.1???? HUH MR SMARTY PANTS?????? RIDDLE ME THAT!!!!!!! 🤞👆☝️👉👇👈
ОтветитьI'm massively confused, fps is orthogonal to playback speed, yet they are somehow mixed up in the video
ОтветитьI would have liked if you then said how the different FPS correlates to degree of slowing down, aka , if I shoot 60 FPS , which is twice as fast as "normal everyday fluid natural" movement, does that mean I should slow down my clip twice as much aka 0.5 speed ?
Ответитьwhy not shoot on 60fps but use only 30fps?
Ответитьthis lacks alot of explanation. youre concluding the person is exporting the final video in 24fps, so you get 2.5x slow motion from 60fps. but if the person final export is for 60fps, then they dont get any slow motion. also theres no mention of shutter speed. it would be hard for a beginner to understand completely unless theyre intermediate. good video nonetheless.
ОтветитьThanks Mark! I'm just branching out from stills to video and trying to figure out frame rates. This was perfect for understanding when to use what. Much appreciated!! (PS - never watched one of your videos, but you came up on the search, and the video did not disappoint.....LIKE and SUBSCRIBE!! 🙂)
ОтветитьHi Mark, do you often use ND filters when you shoot? specially out door shoot? thanks man in advance
ОтветитьSmartly explained thanks
ОтветитьNoob question - if you shoot in either 60fps or 120fps but export your project as 24fps, will it automatically make those shots in slowmo?
ОтветитьGood stuff. I know this is a bit old but curious if you shoot shutter speed at double the frame rate for this fast motion sports stuff? I was shooting a bicycle ride today at 60 fps and 125 shutter speed. There was too much motion blur. Should I crank up the shutter speed even more to maybe 250? Thanks!
ОтветитьI have to edit my sketch video at 10x speed should i use 120 fps for that. As it makes the quality really good and smooth
ОтветитьWhat would you recommend for soldering small electronic components? I mean, yeah, I could use 24fps for regular moments, but whenever I want to do something like showing the metal melting and getting form, would like 60 FPS be enough? Or should I use 120FPS? Of course it must be noticed that I have some trade-offs here, like, the microscope I'm choosing films UHD at 24FPS only, but I can increase it to up to 60 FPS by switching to Full HD and 120FPS by switching to HD.
Ответитьsuch a great job explaining things, thanks!!
Ответитьgreat video Mark and it still holds up today!
we just snagged the Sony ZV-E1 for our run and gun travel cam which does 60 & 120 in 4k and 120 & 240 in 1080 and your video just reminded me to stick with what works and not jump to "too slow" just because it is available
If you film at 60 frames per second when you play it back at normal speed on some thing like an iPhone isn’t that better for sports because it would capture more of the ball movement at normal speed than 30 frames per second for example?
ОтветитьDid you have to upload this video in 24 or 60
Ответитьcan you just stop slowing down high fps footage when you do comparisons. We are not looking it like this
ОтветитьThank you very much Mate....only now that I understand the meaning of fps......thank you again
ОтветитьThanks a lot
