My granddaughter is 20 years old. She was diagnosed many years ago with Asperger's. O'Hara is only 5 and 1/2 ft tall. Up until she was about 16 she was the tiniest little thing. Very slender very, small. But for the last 5 years her shape has changed. Her face is very round and she has a round belly. Her arms and her legs are a nice weight they are not stick thin at all. About a year ago she lost 9 lbs but she still had that very round face. Even though her belly went down with 9 lbs. lost it was still very round and so was her face. The family Doctor here in our small town tested her through her blood and said she does not have Cushing. I'm glad he said that but I'm so upset because something is still wrong. I mean she's a beautiful young woman with long dark curls and porcelain skin. I only say that because she's so upset about her stomach and her very round face.

I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis at age 12 and put on prednisone. I developed a moon face and entered into Cushing’s syndrome. I came off the prednisone and that went away. I see people off of anti-inflammatory steroids, having never been prescribed them, with moon face, a hump back, belly fat and thin appendages.......and I think about how high their stress levels must be. So much of our physiology and personality itself are altered by sympathetic responses within our nervous system.
