How long can I store the pineapples for?
ОтветитьThank you so much. Our community market here put out pineapple by the case to toss. some still green ! A man with hogs comes and gets stuff they have left over. Well this little piggy goes by there and gleens from whats still good. I got 3 but should have gotten more . I gave one to my sister and am canning the other 2. I so need one of those gadgets ! lol Gotta budget for one. My son has really good knife skills so was able to get him to cut them up. I had my juicer from when I had cancer and was jicing so... I had beautiful juice and appreciated the low sugar. Canned juice too and had enough to have a nice drink. Wink wink ! lol Again thank you so much.
ОтветитьI learned something in the first two minutes and fifteen seconds. Something that seems obvious, but I hadn't quite thought of especially if you're saving the juice is to wash the pineapple first! Well goes to show I just learned recently all about washing your bananas when you bring them home from the store as well, so this makes sense, thank you.
ОтветитьHi, does water bath canning require closing the lid with just finger tight.
ОтветитьThanks to watching your video, I am now canning pineapple. Who knew and why not! We can so many varieties of fruit in jars to enjoy all winter long. Adding pineapple to our stash is a big bonus as we love it. 34 pints pineapple added to the pantry :)
Ответитьi would can the core also in pieces, as it contains an anti inflammatory enzyme called BROMELAIN.
ОтветитьLove this video. So helpful and straight to the point. Plus a little sugar lol. Thank you for sharing. I am going to go try this now. :)
ОтветитьI hope to be canning some soon also!
ОтветитьDon't throw away the skin or core. You could dehydrate them and grind them into powder. The powder makes a great meat tenderizer.
Ответитьthanks for this video. i’m going to can some pineapple this week! I love learning from you.
ОтветитьWhere did you get that corer I need one!!
ОтветитьI got 24 pineapples for .99c each and I used my wic so it was a realy good deal. I freeze dried the fruit and am making pineapple peal jelly out of the skins and chopedup the cores for the jelly
ОтветитьI had a gadget similar to yours except that the corer was stainless steel. I gave up on it and threw it away because I could never get it to core straight. Maybe I’ll look for a clear one and try again 😊
ОтветитьI cannot wait to can some Pineapple! I am very Blessed to get "healthy food" credits monthly through Medicare and our freezer is full....so I'm on to canning! Pineapple will be on July's list along with sweet corn (I'm doing raw pack) from a local farm stand that I will pay for out of my pocket to support them.
ОтветитьI have been following your recipe for canning pineapple. I used a light syrup and they are delicious. I also made some pineapple juice by simmering the cores and skins. Do you know if we are able to can homemade pineapple juice? I have looked in all my Ball and USDA Canning Books for canning fruit juices but can't seem to find any information. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks.
Ответитьcan you use can ones if so would it be the same Process ??
ОтветитьThanks! Gonna try this!
ОтветитьCould you use smaller jars? I’m a newbie so I ask questions
ОтветитьIs the water running boil when you water bath the pineapple for 10 minutes?
ОтветитьThanks for that Pam, im not yet confident to buy a canner..so I'm starting with water canning foods that can be canned this way.
ОтветитьA bought a pineapple corer slicer. I cut the left over pineapple cut I to strips then cut into squares I cut the flesh off, then put the rest into my lemon squeezer got all the juice. I tried using my rolling pin but it's to long for even my half sheet pan.
ОтветитьWhere people go wrong with the single butane rings is that they put a pan or pot too large on it and the flames heat up the panel where the cannister is. And they wonder why it blows up on them. 🫣
ОтветитьHow long can you keep Canned pineapple on the shelf before going bad?
ОтветитьYou need to checkout growing your own pineapple plant from the top you tossed in the trash. I have my first one growing now. :) thanks for the tips.
ОтветитьYeah, Jim!
ОтветитьThank you for sharing
ОтветитьWalmart for 2.99
ОтветитьHave any of your tried to start the top and grown pineapple?
ОтветитьI don't know how I missed this last year but am glad I found it. My Winn Dixie has pineapples "on sale" for $2.99 (I am jealous of your $.97) so I won't be getting 20, although I probably would get 10 if I found them at your price. It will be nice to have some along with the Halos I canned last week, I will get some more of those, too. I have a pineapple corer and it *is one of the best kitchen gadgets! I wish mine was clear, though. Thanks for the tip on using a sheet pan ... much easier than a bowl!
ОтветитьI never canned before. How do I prep the bottles and lids?
ОтветитьThank you for the pineapple jam video, I am so thrilled with this recipe, please tell me where can I buy that core remover gadget, I am in the philippines and I dont see anything like that here,
ОтветитьPlanted the pineapple top in a bucket. Was doing beautifully. Had to leave on an emergency and it froze while we were gone
ОтветитьI love how clean and safe you are when doing things. Ive learned so much about canning and the science of it from your channel and I'm so thankful for you and your knowledge and time!
I Love pineapples , but after I cut the top off, like you did, I plant the tops in good soil and take care of them like any other crop. They do take a long time to harvest ( about 2 yrs) but if you have the space, it's worth it. My brother gave me 2 plants, and I have planted about 10 more. I already harvested 1 a few months ago, and it was very sweet and juicey. Not as big as in stores, more rounded.
ОтветитьHere in Norway, frozen pineapple is a lot more reasonably priced. Buying fresh pineapple for this, would make an expensive pineapple though … ☺️ I’m going to try making some now from what I have in my freezer with less sugar, mostly alternative sweetener… 🤗💚🌱🍀🌱💚
ОтветитьPam, do you have to add syrup to the jars or can you just add water only.?
ОтветитьI have one of those pineapple corer gadgets. It's amazing! I just found pineapples on sale for $1 here locally in Louisville, Ky. I'm going tomorrow and score as many nice ones as I can. I'd love to put up that many pints as you did so hoping they have at least 10 nice ones! Oh, one tip I found on another channel, pull the cores out and process them in with your simple syrup!
ОтветитьI just bought two pineapples for canning. I have not canned anything yet! I’m starting small and so glad you have this video! I don’t think I would of ever thought to save the juice! I also will only can them in water to lower sugar consumption. So saving the juice is a great idea
ОтветитьI just got a bunch of pineapples at walmart for only $1 right after i watched this video!! I jumped right on it! Thank you so much!!!! I cant wait to can tomorrow!!! I will have this video playing as a reference!!!
ОтветитьLove this ! Found a fantastic deal for beautiful fresh pineapples! Bought 13 of them . A lady at the store came up to me asked what I was doing with all the pineapple.( She was about 60 ) I told her I was going to can them ! She was SHOCKED 😲!! She kept saying how amazing that was ! I told her I hunt for deals and either Can , dehydrate or put it in my freezer . She said " I never would have expected someone so young to be into canning " ( I'm 31) I told her I grew up doing it and explained this is what I've always done , last week I found a bunch of cauliflower on-sale and made a bunch of pickled cauliflower. This week I got pineapple and tons of bags of fresh cranberries for 0.25 ! We just had Thanksgiving here in Canada and Cranberries are always so cheap after Thanksgiving. So I grabbed 36 bags for $9 and am going to make my own cranberry juice concentrate .
She thought that was amazing lol But I'm very thankful I have the skills to do stuff like this . God blesses me with Deals and I'm able to make things for my family ❤️
Oh one more question. Can you use 100%canned pineapple juice for the liquid?
ОтветитьCan you can frozen pineapple. I love pineapple, my favorite fruit. 😊
ОтветитьI am so happy to find you! I am just thinking about all the money i can save by doing this with different things!
ОтветитьCan you use a pressure canner to do high acid foods instead of water bath?
ОтветитьCould you use coconut water as a syrup?
ОтветитьOver the past 6 months you have encouraged, inspired and taught us all so mych! Even just reading the comment sections help. Covering so many topics that cover basic ‘need to know’ things for every day life. Thanks to you both !! After learning and practicing water bath and pressure canning i was able to teach my sister to do both this past weekend. Great memories made. God bless you both
ОтветитьThe gadget wins awards with me! Fun video and always an inspiration! Thank you!!! 😋
ОтветитьYeah 1 pineapple = 2 pints.. about average.
ОтветитьHi, I am a total Newby @ 64 years old. Can you tell me if there's a good chart for configuring for the elevation?? I'm in Central Florida, now I do have the Canning book just like yours......I'm feeling VERY intimidated.
ОтветитьWhen pineapple was .97 cents a can I didn’t bother but it’s $2.19 or more now so here I am doing my research and waiting for cheap pineapples again, fingers crossed 🤞
