I can't say I'm happy with my 280zxt after like 2 decades with it.
It hasn't been a very reliable car. Blown a lot of head gaskets, and fuel injectors are always leaky, and shocks have always been shot out. All that premium luxury car stuff on it... cruise control, talking lady, door lights, air conditioner, stereo, digital dash, gas tank measuring stick, oxygen sensor, etc... just dies over time and never works again. The clear coat peels off and looks like dandruf. I've had to clean the steering column light stick contact switches more times than I can count. It's not a very friendly vintage car to own at all. It only seems fast because it's low to the ground. I gave up driving the Z and switched to driving cruiser motorcycles, they were much more fun, cheaper, more fuel efficient, faster, and just better vehicles. The Z now seems like a gas plg by comparison, I would never go back to driving the Z.

why is the title even a question? It like is someone 30yrs from now asks if current mustang, 400z, brz/86 could be daily driven.

Someday I will find my Z car. It doesn't even need to be complete, just not rusted all to hell. I can fix a car, I can swap an engine, I can even do body work, but I'm not a damned magician. It's all that salt on the road. Need to go hunting in the south west.

My second car after moving to the US from UK in 1983 was a Datsun 200sx. Mechanically, it was very sound and never let me down. Unfortunately, a lady sideswiped me at a light and basically that was the end. The previous owner had lowered it and put a huge speaker in the trunk.

They did back in 70s if brought up to good running order why the hell not, light good on gas and a blast to drive best damn daily driver next to a good sportbike. it is Japanese they are like the nergizer bunny they just keep on going.

I did daily drive a 240Z then a 280Z until my 240Z was recovered after my wife daily drove to work twice and her unthoughtful boss insisted on parking out of sight. Nothing like giving someone all day to work around everything a car has to make stolen life difficult.

Through this channel, I really fell in love with this car. The years it was built in, the history... and it is so beautifil on the inside ánd outside. And in this beautful configuration this might just be the dreamcar to obtain. Wow, thnx guys for this video!

For daily driving absolutely no. You get into accident with these pickup trucks you’re dead. Also you won’t enjoy it if you drive it daily you get used to it too soon like having Sex with the hottest a girl every day you’ll get used to it. Just get a suv for daily and bring her out on weekends

< I drive this mildly custom 77' 280z daily. I drove a customers 71' 240z and i was a actually pretty let down. My 280 does everything better. Not a real fair comparison because his is stock but it shows the 280 is better than some think.

I bought a 280z 20 years ago for $300 loved that car wish I kept it.

I bought a clean 1 owner 78 280z in 1979 for $7800.00. Installed an aftermarket turbo kit on it and immediately cracked the cast piston ring landings. I sent a sample piston to Arias pistons and HD them make a set of forged pistons with exactly the same weight but 7.25:1 compression. Honed the cylinders to 0.007 clearance. Didn't even need to remove engine. Just pulled the head and oil pan and kept everything clean. Ran 15 lbs boost and never had any issues. At 165 mph the front end would get scary light... great cars. Biggest problem was rust.

My Dad had a 280z fuel injected. It was a beautiful car. 260 and 280 are the most over looked and wasted cars. NO CREDIT GIVEN TO THEM.

I mean, I drive mine in the winter. I use it on camping trips, to get groceries... the works. It's fine.

Can you daily drive z? Well thousands did so from the day the z went on sale. I daily drove a ninja 600 for 2 yrs of tech school and another yr at job until i could buy a truck. If it is street legal you can daily drive it unless you do like idiots and lower it so low you cannot clear a dime laying in street.
