Is there a spillway or overflow to cut into the pond we didn't see or plans to add one so that when it fills to the desired level it doesn't keep filling and overflow the banks, possibly eroding the pond walls? I've been a heavy equipment operator for 29 years, built a few ponds. If they are engineered, they have an overflow plan. Isn't always a cut or culvert pipe or something obvious, but something. I don't want to see all that hard work wash out in the first rainy season

What a wonderful facility it will be - for flora and fauna and you two as well. Having your own wildlife pool to use for refreshing and relaxation is quite the dream! The wee digger - with the blade - is such an asset for this project and, I'm sure, many other future projects. Stay well, hydrated and rested! So good to see everything unfold in the videos. Also, hope the off grid property goes quickly and for the right price!

Were you able to sell your other property?

Leave the stones in the pond for habitat. the biggest problem with dam erosion will be from rain washing down from the top and the stones on the sides will not help and may cause more erosion from channeling the run off?

What a fantastic project! I can't wait to see how the pond will change the surrounding environment for the better and how much wildlife the water will attract. I'm with Theo here: ponds are super cool!

I know you said you will be putting clay around on the banks of the pond. But will you also be putting clay in the bottom so that the water doesn't drain out of the bottom of the pond?

I think that your pond will be a lovely addition but honestly you have it made to small still. And I think your water will warm up to much seven with the spring water flowing in. You have so much space there in that area you should consider doubling the size in order to make the best use of having any fish to potentially to be able to grow and have as a food source and to help collect surplus water during your dry season and have it for any irrigation else ware .
But your husband is working so hard and I don’t think you will be happy with the size at this point . Reconsider your decision.

If I had a cat, I'd call it Depeche toi, and Peche for short.... French for "hurry up" and "peach" respectively.

Another good reason for a strong and bubbling water flow into and out of the pond is for oxygenation... so the pond won't stagnate!!! It's an important element to think about!

Jennifer Grey was Baby in Dirty Dancing movie with Patrick Swayze where she was a young girl wanting to dance with older Patrick character. Maybe Jennifer would be a cool name and fitting for Baby. Or just keep the name Baby!
