There’s a webcomic creator whose stuff I like, that goes by the handle “Mookie.” In one of his blog posts, he talked about Comicsgate, and it was the blind kind of vitriol you’d expect: Comicgaters are all white guys who hate women and gay people in comics. I can’t adequately express how frustrated that made me. More so when I explained this to my girlfriend (who isn’t into comics) and she basically said “What you said may be what Comicsgate is about, but the people are all what Mookie said,” and then basically said “I just don’t ever understand the point of protesting change.”

I wish I could sit both of them down and watch this video. Maybe then they’d get it.

This is what "bad politics" means. People don't hate leftist extremists for their political side, some do but you get the point. They hate left extremists and right extremists because their both nuts and pull petty gangster type garbage like this. People hate left extremists in particular, because those of us on the left tend to act with an air of moral superiority and that doesn't apply to any extremists.

I don't like Diversity & Comics, or whatever he's calling himself now, because there's a kind of hero I'd like to see, and he's made it clear that he doesn't think that kind of hero should exist in comics. However, I would never call for violence against him, or even claim he shouldn't be permitted to express his opinion online. We'd never get along as people, but I would still stand by him in defending his rights against these comics folks.

When Comic book pros prove that they are not worthy of their job...or any kind of job.

Then I saw the character getting some more attention, and an opportunity for improvement.

I'm a casual comic book reader, and mostly read manga. Comics still interest me, but Im going to stay away from Slott and Waid's books.
