Especially because you missed out all of Lumumba’s appalling leadership decisions, including his decision to send troops into Kasai where they massacred Baluba tribesmen. Also, the UN didn’t hand Lumumba over to his enemies. Lumumba was under house arrest protected by a UN cordon, but he decided to escape by hiding in the boot (trunk if you’re American) of his servants car and make his way to Stanleyville where his supporters were located. On his way there he insisted on stopping along the way to rally his supporters and in doing so he was spotted by some irate Congolese, possibly Baluba tribesmen unhappy that their fellow tribesmen had been murdered by Lumumba’s troops, and they seized him and handed him over to the authorities.

His son took over as President as if it was some kind of Kingdom sigh... He refused to meet the promises he made to the rebel armies that helped him..

As of writting this, the east is still plagued by these armies (M23, MaiMai etc)
