Nice to see the young [age redacted] shop apprentice hanging out with you. BTW, those frames really tie the room together.
ОтветитьTo set the X and Y for the v bit could you have installed an end mill, set X and Y then installed the v bit? Then all you would need to set with the v bit is Z.
ОтветитьWhat kind of spray finish. is that?
ОтветитьNice Avid machine for a beginner. 😲🤣
ОтветитьSolid work sir. I am new to CNC and have done one project. Would love to do the toy boxes for my daughter and have her help. Do you sell the plans for those? Trying to understand the joints as well. Thanks!
ОтветитьYou had me at "crumb crunchers" 😅
ОтветитьPolyethylene glue was original Gorilla glue? Thanks for video, your helper seemed to get a lot done.
ОтветитьYou made what I believe was an honest mistake when explaining what MDF means. It's Mike Density Farrington, not Medium Density Farrington.
ОтветитьHow are you liking the CNC now that you’ve had it a while? Has it paid for itself?
ОтветитьWow good job
ОтветитьSo why the veritcal setup for the box joints. Couldn't you do the same with the boards laying flat?
ОтветитьThe subtle, extremely dry humor crushes me 😂
ОтветитьThe name of my new band is, "The Struggle Bus Drivers".
ОтветитьNic ideaaaa👍👍👍👍
ОтветитьHMMMMM...beginner...surely you jest. But seriously good video I've been considering buying a cnc but have zero knowledge, are you really a beginner, you make it look so easy.
ОтветитьI don't mean to alarm you, but someone keeps stealing your kids and replacing them with larger ones.
ОтветитьDoesn't everyone know, CNC stands for Can Nap Constantly???
ОтветитьDig the info… Less personality wouldn’t hurt ..( no offense..)…regardless.. Dig the projects, I’ll pick and choose… But that’s just me.
Ответитьthanks for great video ,i just tried the box joint gaget pretty cool
ОтветитьI have to say the little guy stole the show ...great to see he's involved! I have the same cnc and enjoyed your video 👍
ОтветитьMedium Density Farrington hahah! That is awesome!
ОтветитьNice sign, it really pulls the room together.
ОтветитьIf 4 thou is too tight, what did you settle on as a good clearance, 6 thou ?
ОтветитьVery good work, I love it! Which Avid Cnc model is it?
ОтветитьAny chance you're going to be making more CNC content?
Ответить"lovely lubricity". Excellent use of language. Subscribed.
ОтветитьNice job man. I’m a week away from firing up my new Cnc! So many projects I want to tackle for around the house. As well as getting work done lol.
ОтветитьI'm pretty new to CNC myself and was wondering how you were going to get those joint corners square. Nice work. I hadn't seen that before.
ОтветитьМолодец!👍
ОтветитьMMMM Tractor....
ОтветитьSince the release of this video, how has your software solution evolved? Are you using one SW product in particular as your "go-to" tool for design and machine programming?
ОтветитьPretty cool little dust collection system. I’m guessing it keeps growing as long as you feed him?
ОтветитьNice work! So, if 4 thou is a little too tight, have you found a happy medium for plywood joints? I'm doing some half-lap stuff and I only get one shot. I'm going with a .48" gap to fit "1/2 inch" baltic birch around itself. I think that stuff is actually 12mm (0.472") nominally.
ОтветитьGreat Job.. I did something very similar. Here is the first pass for box joint in g-code. message me for full NC file. I use NC Viewer (it does not read variables or subroutines)
(end mill 1/2, box joint at 1/2 with 3/4 depth)
(pass 1)

WOW - SO MANY ERROR SHOWN IN THIS VIDEO: MDF DEFINITION: medium-density fibreboard
The pros and cons of medium-density fibreboard (MDF) YOU WERE "CLIMB" CUTTING WHEN YOU ROUTED THOSE DOVETAIL-LIKE SLOTS - ALWAYS SET UP YOU FENCE SO THE ROUTER BIT TURNS INTO THE FENCE AND NOT AWAY FROM THE FENCE LIKE YOU SHOWED - YOU SHOULD PULL A ROUTER TOWARDS YOURSELF FOR SAFETY REASONS AS WELL AS ASSURING THE ROUTER DOES NOT WANDER AWAY FROM YOUR FENCE - PUSHING A ROUTER AWAY FROM YOURSELF IS A POOR PRACTICE AND SHOULD BE AVOIDED -
Mike
Just a reminder that the “ Gorilla Glue” should not be used in your or your families hair”
It is a fiber product adhesive only !!
Great job and those shop apprentice and apprenticess are growing quite fast .!!
What bit did you use for the 1st phase of cutting?
ОтветитьI love your sense of humor 😀😀
ОтветитьI was watching your torsion box build and went to your latest vid. Little man is not so little anymore! And it looks like there is a new addition. Dude you are busy! Love the vids and subscribed.
ОтветитьAwesome
Ye, I also learnt woodworking lots from
AMUSINGWOODWORKING COM
Mike,
I really enjoyed the video using the CNC machine. Any chance you’ll make some more videos with it? I recently picked up a similar system and like the inspiration.
I'm curious, what made you add the extra step of using the vertical clamping? Couldn't you get the exact same effect and much easier by cutting those same shapes with the boards flat? I though at first you'd done it to make dovetails (which I would love to see you do still), so was this just an excuse to be an engineer and create a problem to solve? And excuse to make the vertical clamping jig? Regardless, great work on all this and I'm definitely gonna make myself a vertical clamping rig now. You made it look so simple!
ОтветитьYour CNC machine is a real beauty. The shop apprentice is getting big!
ОтветитьNow you can make your own IKEA box joint drawer units, hopefully costing less than IKEA charge !!
ОтветитьThis woodworking book TopFineWoodworking. Com contains a great deal of details about woodwork. There are some designs in the book but it is primarily explaining the procedure of how to do various things and what tools to use to accomplish them. In general, this book fulfilled my basic desire to learn about wood working.?
ОтветитьI don’t know if anyone else caught it but the apprentice was doing a lot of cleaning. I wish my shop apprentices would do that. They only stand around and ask questions and color Barbie pictures. Great video. 👍
ОтветитьWhen it comes to CNC would you say that you started as High Density Farrington, but towards the end became more Medium Density Farrington? ;)
Great little video, it's nice to follow others when they're learning.
Just watched this again and thought gee mike should have put wheels and skies on them boxes...lol
ОтветитьSilent Lubricity by Queensryche. Great video!
ОтветитьWear a mask whenever you router MDF, the dust is extremely harmful and actually cancerous.
