Just insane.
ОтветитьJust as a side note, if you get your battery elsewhere it may well have next to no charge in it, so when it's all soldered in then it will only give you a red flashing light at test, it will need a decent few hours charge to work. I spent ages checking all the connections were right on the 3 brushes I did last night. Also if the white battery carrier end that is thinned to a millimeter gap is accidentally cut out you will get permanent connection from positive to the motor terminal! Ask me how I know that.... 🤦♂️
ОтветитьUS source for the battery?
ОтветитьI have an antex 18w iron. The positive terminal is too much for it. I cant use the heat gun because its all plastic. The rubber seal at the top of the brush is perished anyway and the wire to the led has corroded away. This is all going in the bin, im going to buy a new brush, it should be easier to replace the battery and the seal should be replacable. How the thing has a CE kitemark i have no idea.. where can i buy a british standards toothbrush??
ОтветитьGreat step by step video - it took me between 1.5 and 2 hours, and that included modifying the battery cage to accommodate the larger battery. I also bought the battery (with tabs) from Ionic Industries, and was able to trim the tabs with a small pair of side cutters.
The only issue I had was that the fine wires that are tied around the lugs on the side cage, snapped when trying to get them off, but there was still enough wire to solder them in place.
I'm not very experienced at soldering and only have basic equipment, so even if you are nervous about doing this I would definitely recommend doing it, to save on having to buy a new toothbrush.
A couple of tips that helped me; make sure you have some braided solder wick to make desoldering the joints a lot easier and less messy, and if you place the unit on a sheet of Blu Tack, it will keep it steady whilst doing the soldering.
What battery format is that?
ОтветитьDamn, these things were definitely not designed to be opened up.
Thank you though.
Omg this is effort think I’ll buy a new one 😅
ОтветитьThanks for the tip to fix back the ring! (hot water + brush head)
ОтветитьI was looking forward to using this video as a guide for replacing my battery, but then I realized I left my soldering iron in my dump truck...
ОтветитьIncredibly detailed. Thanks for making batteries available.
ОтветитьThank you. Thanks to your video today I disassembled and maintained my electric toothbrush. It was easy and I recommend all users to schedule this type of operation at least once every year of use. The inside of the toothbrush was really dirty and had areas of calcium build up. Sorry for my not perfect English writing
ОтветитьThis is ridiculous. I got about half way through this video before I decided to just buy a new brush.
ОтветитьJust get a new brush ... fawk this
Ответитьthank you! my toothbrush has only 2 years and suddenly stooped charging, after opening it I saw the charging coil cable cracked where it connects to the PCB, fixing it was pretty simple solder job
ОтветитьThank you. I have replaced the battery in three of these in our house today. It got quicker each time!
ОтветитьGreat video but this is extortion and designed this way to force people to buy new toothbrushes instead of being able to easily replace the battery. Will never buy again.
Ответитьperfect solution, thanks!
Ответитьi used aa rechargable, it works but i cant charge it now. all connections look ok.
ОтветитьThank you for the video. Your video convinced me to throw mine into garbage can and never buy such products again, until they make products which battery can be easily replaced.
Ответитьhey there! i was wondering if you could do a toothbrush i have that you haven’t covered yet i have an oral b pro 100 toothbrush and i just can’t seem to open it
ОтветитьThanks for this great video!
ОтветитьHow to open Oral-B PRO 3 3500 Typ 3772??
ОтветитьThis is a joke. So complicated, not for average person who does not specialize with handyman stuff
ОтветитьNot as easy as the video suggests to open up to remove the inside when the ring and bottom are clogged up after much use. Needed to use a sharp knife to remove the top ring and the bottom. Not necessarily the battery at fault, move the gear wheel when trying to start and see if it works. Used WD40 and light oil both ends of the motor and after a while it started every time and no disassembly required. Top ring and bottom needs persuasion to refit, they must have used a new toothbrush..
ОтветитьNice
ОтветитьCAG
How could we persuade BRAUN to recycle them or to make the rechargeable batteries easier to change?
Me: searches, how to replace battery in oral b toothbrush
Me: Watches full video
Me: searches, how much is a new oral b toothbrush.
Soldering iron !!!!!!! I think it is easier to buy a new one
ОтветитьAin't nobody got time fo that. lol
ОтветитьThanks you for existing!
ОтветитьIf you re-watch Apollo 13, I think they did this sequence, but they had help on the ground.
Ответитьthanks for this..!
ОтветитьBefore putting back don't forget to put the silicone grase into a mechanism next to motor
ОтветитьYou've got to be kidding me! I thought I was having problems with the simpler Braun electric toothbrush. This is ridiculous, it is too complicated. I took the batteries out of the simple toothbrush after much difficulty and now I can't get the battery cover back on. This happened with a previous more expensive toothbrush too. Is this some kind of "planned obsolescence"?
ОтветитьGreat video! But you lost me at, "Warm up your soldering iron."
ОтветитьI don't mind replacing it myself, but this is why we need Right to repair to force these manufacturers to design product for noob friendly repair / battery replacements. I will attempt it, but how many people will do it and how many will end up as e-waste??? Good video, thank you.
Ответитьfixed, I only had to resolder the coil on the motherboard ( it was loose ) to have it charge again. thnx
ОтветитьThanks for the video. I do have to say BrAun could of made this much easier. Eff BrAun and never buy their products again.
ОтветитьHi do you sell replacements for the Oral-B 'IO' series like the 'io-7'?
ОтветитьYou’re doing a great job, thanks
