When I was 19 back in 1993 I was fortunate enough to speak to rob on the phone. Really nice and friendly guy, he Invited me and my friend out for drinks into the beach. We never had an opportunity to do that looking back. I wish that I had been more of a friend. Because I can totally relate now what he was going through. I did not know he was suffering that much. He seemed so happy that someone was nice to him on the phone. Rest in peace, Rob

They were ahead of their time, when it comes to lip syncing. Everyone does and use auto tune these days and no one cares.

It's so strange, my reaction 2 this these days... & this is the 1st time I've looked at this video since it was all over the place on MTV...

At the time, this act drove my crazy. I mean, the whole thing just drove me up the wall. I wasn't at all impressed by the music, & I thought they both looked ridiculous. I used 2 joke with friends, "Isn't it weird how from the waist up they look like Terrence Trent D'arby & from the waist down they look like Living Color?"

Then the whole scandal broke, & I had immediately felt a surge of relief that I wouldn't be hearing from them anymore after they had been inescapable & were all over the place.

Then in 1998 I saw the VH1 documentary telling the whole sad story about how these guys were taken advantage of. Absolutely ridiculous how that producer treated them. 😡

...& now?

Well, 4 the past few years, I suddenly find myself genuinely enjoying the music; it now feels fun & fresh, & brings back a warm feeling of nostalgia I never could have imagined I would 1 day feel back then. & I now own the album. ;)

I was in junior high when I heard about this group and remember a Care Free gum commercial when they lip synched to an opera record. I didn't get the joke at first. I didn't know any of their songs until Weird Al did a parody of Blame it On the Rain and Don't Forget My Number singing about plumbing. It was years after the parody when I heard the real songs. Milli Vanilli is still better than most so called performers.
