I’m 64 cradle Catholic and I STILL say that prayer every night.

I went to a 1 room country school years ago. There were over 60 chilgren from kindergarden thru 8th grade. We had just come in from our moring recess, when the large iron bell that was rung every morning to start the day, fell off the roof & landed directly in the schoolyard where we had just been playing softball.

Even if Uriel was venerated in the early Christianity, as he is not named in the Canon texts, Catholic Church withdrew all references to him in order to not take any risk to summon a demon.

Searching the name of our Gardian Angel should be avoided at all costs.

I love that idea!!! Buying them a statue of a guardian angel to remind them daily!!! It's crazy how the fad elf in a shelf took more of a heightened interest when it should've been the guardian angel in that place who actually takes care of you since conception.

I can attest to the power of the guardian angel to breach the physical world to protect the soul assigned to them from physical harm, especially if that soul is a child.

Father Rich I think you are wrong, Ryan is correct in NOT NAMING your Guardian Angel.

The talk became too informal. I think that if you are going to help us understand the angels and how they can help us get to Heaven it is more credible if it is presented in a formal, serious matter.

What a shame. You all sound like you do not know much about the theme and it is a matter of opinion. We need absolute truth. Does that exist any more?

A 9 month old baby roasted to death 2 days ago after being left in a hot car by his grandmother for 8 hours. I guess his guardian angel was on a long lunch break.

Why do we have to have a name? Even if we could discern his name. Why can't we just refer to them by a personal reference, with respect, such as "my friend". Such as, hey "my friend", I want to thank you for being there. Please know "my friend" that I appreciate you for being constantly by my side.

Giving your Guardian Angel a nickname is NOT wrong. Its just like giving your closest friend a nickname. The Closest Companion you ever have here on Earth is your Guardian Angel, so its not wrong to give a nickname. If the purpose is for devotion and to improve relationship, then its NEVER WRONG to give a nickname. Not a Name but a NICKNAME.

I met my guardian angel, I was on a NYC train going to a new job it was my first day, one by one people got off the train, and then it was just me and a guy who had to much to drink, he started telling me all the things he was going to do to me, I started running thru the cars trying to get to the conductor, when I got into one of the cars there was a woman sitting there and she patted on the seat next to her, told me not t be scared, she told me the train was about to stop and I should get off the train and there would be police officers there , I did and when I stepped off the train there was a cop there, I looked back into the car and she was gone, I was 20 years old at the time

I would think that it is only God's love that would be with the Angel He sends to be our personal guardian. We should love the Angel as God"s messenger and protector of us human beings but remember that we first love God above every other spiritual or human being.

I've heard priests say never to name your guardian angel. It is disrespectful.

The Catholic Church teaches that you are vulnerable at the moment of death to be taken by satan but the praying of the rosary can save you even if you practiced all of the multitude of requirements to be saved which also asks the question of the guardian angel? I don't think the guardian Angel gives a rat's ass whether you give your Angel a name or not.

When you talk over each other, we don't hear any of it. This is a great topic, but it's senseless to listen to when you aren't respectful of each other!

I think I disagree that an angel would be rejoicful in God's will being carried out if a soul went to hell. If God's children go to hell I would think it would pain God. In the visions of the Sacred Heart Jesus was saddened by those that sinned against him, right? I really like this conversation.... Also God is love and just like we love our children that reflects God's greater love for us as our Father, it feels disordered to think a loving father wouldn't feel sadness of justice being carried out on one of his children. Necessary perhaps. As a parent it's never fun to discipline our children. I would gravitate more towards our angels or ordered towards God's will for our lives which is love and eternity with Him. Angels were created with a full intellect so I would think they would be able tovunderstand God's will for each person and their damnation if needed.

I agree we do not have dominion over Angles. Why in the world do we care to even name our angels? Just ask them to protect and ask Jesus to embolden our angels to do so. As for Jesus having (A) guardian angel. he had many. He is god and in the bible, it is clear many would come to him even in his ascent to the right hand of our Father.

We do not know not can we presume the name of our guardian angel.
