I think, they have to put cameras in the school bus by law and send the ticket to the cars owners. Make it happen.

Our busses here have cameras that read plates. You pass you get a very expensive fine

You cant stop cars from turning on a road, if the best s driers want to stop them they need to stop before the intersection

Many drivers don’t know the rules

its one of the worst rule, practically it is not safer, it would be more safer if the bus take a u-turn and also stop close to curb to drop children. stop relying on other commuters because accidents happen even after all these rules.

Licence should be suspended for minimum 1 year. As the bus is quite large why can’t a sign say 18 inches high by 4feet long with large block letters saying STOP on it with flashing lights and camera attached to it. one child’s life would be worth the cost. Plus any fines handed out could go to help offset the cost of the signs.

Increase the fines to $5,000 and allow cameras to be evidence for police arrest. Charge them with criminal negligence to cause harm. That should make them stop 🛑

Sadly, there's no way to completely stop this mindless happening, but with use of license # and description camera may help. Fines should be raised sharply and points added as well. It's still not stiff compared as having to live with guilt from acc. manslaughter. A PA speaker might be useful as well. Stop marker lights need updated to very bright LED type.

Like how much of a rush could you be in that you can't stop for two seconds so kids can get off the bus and be safe. Smh

I'm sorry, but the whole stop sign on busses is the most stupidest thing ever. Look at other countries how they transport kids on school busses. I come from Australia, the busses look like regular coach busses, they go to "bus stops" only, they park in there designated area and the door is ALWAYS facing away from the road. The bus does have lights that flash that makes the area around the bus a 40kmph zone (24.85 MPH) because it does not make sense to stop the flow of traffic randomly.
USA rules for a lot of things are soo bizarre, i'm almost convinced that the majorety of USA huffs paint thinners.

Edit - there are some kids that live on the other side of the street from the bus stop but a lot of cases. The bus simply turns around or goes around the block to dropoff on the correct side. But i guess bus drivers in USA couldn't be fucked to do that

The $167 fine wouldn't put a big enough dent on any driver's bank accounts. If it were up to me, it's 3 things at once:
Permanent loss of driver's license
$150,000 fine
10 years in federal prison OR life If a child is injured/killed

Unmarked police cars should follow buses as part of an operation to catch these drivers. Tickets issued would pay for the costs of these operations.
Police chiefs should meet and agree about the best methods for implementations.

i was almost hit in middle school. luckily my driver saw and yelled for me to stop but the audacity of drivers to not stop for less than a minute is crazy to me

It's because they think they are entitled to everything, It makes me sick! There minds tell them this:

"Oh that bus is flashing a stop sign light and there are kids getting off the bus! Should I stop or speed through?"

And then boom.

California makes their drivers get out of the bus and make sure it’s clear before students cross the street. It’s a law and maybe all states should have this into law like California. California has the toughest laws regarding school bus safety.

Same as a camera ticket location where the camera tickets the driver for speeding without police being there
