It is a stark reality that strong gender discrimination exists in all religions/tribes in India. Hence Uniform Civil Code is the need of the hour. Actually it should be called "Gender Equality Civil Code".
Once the Uniform Civil Code is implemented, 4 subjects - Marriage, Divorce, Inheritance and Adoption will come under the common law of the country. In these 4 respects there is extreme gender discrimination in all religions/tribes in India.
No citizen of the country should be allowed to leave his wife/husband and children to marry another man/woman at will without obtaining a legal divorce.
The UCC does not affect religious ceremonies/rituals/ language/food/ dress/culture/ celebration occurring in the life of a man or woman ragarding their religion.
India already has a good UCC called "Special Marriage Act, 1954". Millions of Indians, irrespective of caste and religion, register their marriages under this law nowadays. This is a model code. Even Lakhs of "wealthy" Muslims married a second time under the Special Marriage Act of 1954 to avoid the inequities of the Muslim personal law system made by British in 1937. Why not create a uniform civil code for the entire people of India based on the Special Marriage Act, 1954?

How can you have one law you need to be civil to humanity when your President has to be ignored in the Temple?

From 1914 the scenerio has changed.
