i think she was really underutilized too, clementine is constantly asked for help by the adults because they needed the player to have something to do when SARAH IS RIGHT THERE,she's the one character in the game that could've relied on clem for help without it feeling weird or unrealistic, and funnyly enough she's the person in the cabin group that intentionally relied on clementine the least, pretty much every time the player is allowed to help her is a choice given to you rather than her asking for it.

also the writers for the second half of season 2 just hated her, during the first half of the season it felt like the writers liked her or at least respected her character but on the second half it felt like the writers dumbed her down by a lot and wanted to kill her as soon as possible, she's also a prime example of "telltale character they wanted you to kill as soon as possible but if you don't they'll shoehorn in a very forced death scene that barely makes any sense"

The group didn't take care of her because this wasn't a group of survivors. Carver was right on the money about them being sheep needing a leader, they lived through 90/95% of the apocalypse behind safe walls, they never learned how to adapt, even the Ericson crew (at least the oldest) had to learn how to kill walkers, scavenge for food and learn useful skills in general. The cabin group was always sheltered, only Pete was a survivor, Luke was half-way there but way too naive, and everyone else was a burden.

Excepting Pete and Luke, none of them could take care of themselves, there was no way they'd be able to handle Sarah. They were weak, scared, and their helplessness made them paranoid.

Yeah, I agree. I mean, how was Sarah supposed to survive if no one was willing to teach her? They didn’t even give her a chance to learn on her own. Keeping her isolated in a room wasn’t a solution. I think they could’ve brought in a walker , tied up or something and let her deal with it, slowly helping her adapt. She was just a teenage girl with clear struggles- maybe she was on the spectrum, or maybe she was just a kind, emotional person. Either way, her father or any of the adults could’ve at least taught her some basic survival skills. She was 15! Not, like, 7 or 9. She was old enough to become a useful member of the group, but they treated her like a burden. Especially since it seemed like they had been in that house in the woods for a while (I don’t remember clearly it’s been a while since I played) they had the time to help her adjust slowly. It’s kind of a shame she died, but maybe it was also necessary. It highlights an important point: sheltering kids from reality in a world like that doesn’t help them. I’m kind of mad she died by accident, tho I would have preferred if it had been due to a genuine mistake not because of her personality, but a mistake she made because no one ever taught her how to survive. Great video i enjoyed it i feel like people don't really speak a lot about her.

I felt bad for sarah. It's f*cked up that she can still die in different scenarios. I don't 100% blame Carlos because at the end of the day, he was just trying to be a dad and he was trying to protect his kid. But he suffocated her, and I heard someone mention that she might be on the spectrum. Don't quote on me that, but yeah that doesn't help as well. Sarah didn't have any balance, Sarah and Clem are still kids, but they treated Sarah as if she was a dumb kid or a defenseless baby. She wasn't. The group let her down, I can understand them not getting involved because it's a "she's not my kid, not my responsibility" type of thing. But someone should at least given her some type of guidance. I hate Carver, I really do but he had a point when he told Carlos that he smothered her too much. And I'm glad Lee took Chucks advice. Because Clementine would've ended up dead like Sarah But she should've had a chance to live, and Duck. They both should've lived, Sarah wouldn't in my opinion turn out like some zombie killing machine, but she would've held her own and learned about medicine to help others.

I'll give my own opinion here, sorry if it's long.

She was doomed once Carlos started to ignore her (possible) mental issues, whether it be a disability or her being sheltered.
The death she deserves that you can do in the game is letting her die in the trailer park, once AJ is born, she gets forgotten, little to zero remorse from the others about her death. It sounds cruel that her last moments should be her being left behind, but at least Luke, (optional) Clementine, and (somewhat) Jane mourned her death afterwards. I don't hate her at all as I understand if someone is sheltered and/or disabled in ANY way, they may not be able to adjust like everyone else, just like Sarah. I don't blame her in a lot of situations for freezing up, it's mostly Carlos and the others' fault for not properly teaching her how to adjust. I however DO blame her for freezing up in the greenhouse, causing Reggie's death, as she has been there before, I get the whole situation was horrible at the lodge but she could have adjusted quicker due to it being a familiar place, she knows how cruel Carver is and yet still froze up. You could argue she was traumatized from the camp the first time, which I honestly think she was, but usually a person would learn that it's back to how it used to be (kind of) and just revert to old ways unless they deliberately try to avoid doing so.

That's my opinion, some stuff may be wrong but it's honestly what I think of Sarah and what her fate shoulda been, I feel bad for her.

Never felt an ounce of remorse for her or that punk ass mf carlos.
Idgaf how special or different she is THAT'S YOUR FUCKIN DAUGHTER TEACH HER HOW TO SURVIVE AND THE REALITIES OF THE WORLD YOU LIVE IN.
Literally what did carlos expect? To keep her locked up in a cabin in the woods for the rest of her life? He killed his daughter by not showing her and teaching her the ways of the world, defending yourself, keeping control of your fear/emotions, and working every day to make your homestead os more safe and secure and more importantly of the reality that PEOPLE WILL DIE even your precious father. Plus the Idiot didn't even teach her how to properly use a firearm, she could've blown clementines head off by playing around like she did, ever since that moment i felt no remorse for either of them, they were both plain stupid.

There is a video I think titled what if lee Survived season one, and pretty much it’s about him making it all the way to season four and what he would’ve done. But the one thing that really stuck out to me was the fact that if Lee was there, Sarah would have survived and he would’ve helped her, along with Clem, to make her a better survivor

My only problem with Sarah comes down to a problem with the writing. While we don’t know exactly how long the cabin group was with Carver we know it was for a good while (my guess would be a minimum of 8 months given Rebecca’s pregnancy and them still being close enough Carver easily found them) and Sarah is terrified of him when he shows up to the cabin. So why is it then that once they’ve been captured she thinks it’s a good idea to try and talk to Clem while he’s talking? Like yes she struggles to understand the world and how people act sometimes, but that whole situation would have happened before they escaped the first time.

I’m mostly annoyed by her because Carlos never taught her to survive not acknowledging the fact he can’t protect her forever.
Sarah couldn’t accept the reality that nobody can protect her forever.
It’s not like Clementine that had Lee who taught her that everyone was going to die someday and she had to grow up someday.

I don’t having Clementine being a comparison to Sarah is fair. I think the better way of looking at is Lydia from the comics (Since the telltale games and comic takes place in the same universe). Especially, for their upbringing. Sarah being coddled during the apocalypse, while Lydia having the polar opposite, being neglected and forced to survive under her mothers tutelage.

I loved Sarah and was so so sad about her death. When I first saw a playthrough I asked my brother if there was any way to save her and when he said no, I was sad. She was so sheltered by someone who believed he could get by staying in place. I fully believe her father believed he and his group could just have stayed put if Carver never found them. So in a desperate act to let Sarah keep being a kid, he sheltered her. I dont think he had any ill intent in it. I think he wanted his disabled (i do believe she's autistic as an autistic person myself) daughter to keep being a kid. He didnt let her face reality becuase he thought he'd always be there with her until she got old enough to "understand", not realizing how heavily he's impacting her ability to survive. I think to some extent Lee wanted Clem to keep being a kid, as did Kenny with Duck. But the difference is Lee realized that whether he liked it or not he HAD to prepare her for the day he may no longer be able to save her. If Sarah had been given that chance, I think she could've survived just a bit longer. If she had been taught that she will lose people she loves, how to defend herself, how to understand the world around she could've done better. Of course I dont say that with the belief that she would survive forever or that she wont experience the shutdowns she experienced but if she had people who truly cared for her and properly taught her maybe she wouldn't be so looked over and considered a burden. Autistic people can be more resilient than others, especially parents who dont understand, give us credit for. Shes not gonna immediately get it or understand or act the way Clem did, but she was failed by not being given the opportunity. She was forced to rely heavily on her father and the people around her.

Many people dislike Sarah for being weak, but I see it differently. She had no one to teach her how to survive in the zombie apocalypse; her father sheltered her too much. She reminds me of Clementine when Lee first met her. Thankfully, Lee taught Clementine how to survive, or she might have ended up like Sarah or worse.

Serah's situation made me dislike that whole group.

Carlos for entirely failing as a father and the rest for complaining about or ignoring her for her weakness yet doing absolutely nothing about it.

We SEE multiple times how easily Serah ans basically be forced into strength and to grow up and that she has a keep interest in doing so.

If Carlos or atleast a few of the group besides Clem actually put the effort in, it wouldn't have taken long before Serah would have been ready for the world. Skittish I'm sure, but still able to survive it.
Then Carlos has the audacity to say she can't handle anything, brother, WHOS FAULT IS THAT?

I think childhood is a luxury. Carlos not pushing her out of her comfort zone was a disservice to her. Lee seen that the world was so fucked that he needed to teach an 8 year old how to use a gun because she didn’t have the luxury of being a kid if she was going to survive. It’s sad but it’s necessary.

Time for me to be a sap. I personally liked Serah because i related to her somewhat. Im a person on the spectrum and i whole heartedly believed Serah was designed to be one too. The way she shut down in the trailer despite death breaking in. The way she quietly called for Clem, her only friend in the world, and completely ignored the zombies in the room until they assaulted her. Tragic character a lot of people got easily fed up with. Not that i blame them but still, the girl didnt need the hate she was getting back in the day. Lol

Sarah could have truly been Clementine's best friend but they just wasted all the potential we could have had.
