The Rise and Fall of Superior Spider-Man

I hope that one day Marvel will grow balls and tell the story how Spider confronts the Mephisto to get his contract/soul + marriage and personal growth back and let some things (eg May) go.

I sort of fell off after OMD, but I did stay updated during the Superior Spider-Man run. I didn't hate the idea. For one, I despised (and still do) Peter Parker for making the deal with the personification of evil, and Otto didn't have to do much to be better than him in my eyes.
Secondly, it was obviously not going to be permanent. Peter would get his body back once Otto's had his fun, so why bother getting upset? Just enjoy the ride for what it's worth!

It would be the last time a Spider-Man storyline made me feel anything but cold contempt for Marvel.

The biggest issue I had with this run was how after Peter got his body back his personal life as Peter Parker and his hero life as Spider-Man was completely screwed up. I mean sure Peter had his own company but he had to destroy it so that Doc Ock and Hydra won’t use the technology for evil purposes and then no one in Peter’s hero life and personal life were able to figure out that Otto was inside Peter’s body. After everything he had gone through Peter is forced to pick up the breadcrumbs of both his hero life and personal life again and he gets treated like crap by the writers. Only one person was able to figure of the truth and that was Peter’s ex girlfriend and you’re telling me that No One in superhero community couldn’t figure out why Spider-Man wasn’t acting himself.

It's the complete disrespect shown for Peter that makes me hate this story line. Peter did not deserve the death they gave him and did not deserve the "improved" version of Peter. I will never forgive Marvel for this. Peter already lived a struggled life and to "honor" him with this fate was complete bullshit.

Green Goblin(Norman) is a reflection of Spider-Man while Otto is a reflection of Peter Parker. I've always loved that symbolism

this was the first (and only) comic i read week to week**. i think i started halfway through, and due to a mix of the backlash and the whispers of it actually being good i checked it out. i loved it, and the payoff to peter returning was so hype. i also thought the fallout he had to deal with after was interesting. i remember being 14 and hearing the idea and thinking it was terrible, but after awhile and picking it up I learned the most important thing if you're a comic fan, "it always goes back to the status quo eventually" so it let me have an open mind and go into it to enjoy the ride with the security it wasn't permanent. Also the suit is fucking KILLER. best alt spidey suit (the mk 2 superior suit. although the first one is still cool too)

Man, I kinda missing the day that comic actually taught us to be better person. They could have made superior spiderman end and Dr.Octopus return in much better way like. Superior Spiderman just retired himself realizing that maybe being spiderman is not exactly his thing to help people and Dr.Octopus is like one of those clone that several villain in Marvel is capable of doing.
But no~~~ they disregard everything that should have been a good lesson to us and trash it down with magical stuff

The writers, and especially Dan Slott just spit in the face of dozens of fans that made Spider-Man such a big name in the comic world.

almost all of these is in different Spiderman movies games and cartoon which makes it so confusing to me, because all of those use the comic material differently

Tbh, I adore how Oc keeps calling himself Superior Spider-Man after learning his lesson, to me it kinda feels kinda like while it's still his pride, it's now more a promise to strive after.

I hate mephisto now. I truly hate him. It was fine when he made Johnny Blaze into Ghost Rider but this and One More Day are absolutely stupid
