Black Widow - Clumsy, Dumb and Disappointing

Don’t know, I actually liked it. May be that is just Scarlett Johansson’s performance, but I like that Black Widow looks like a person here. With emotions, anger, fear, laughter. The chemistry between sisters was also great. I instantly said: yes they really are sisters. I wouldn’t watch it again, but 1 time felt good.

This was a flat, dull CGI reliant film.

So hot tho

Johansson has been wasted for the past several years. Such a shame. And what they've done with David Harbour is criminal. Oh well, another reason to cancel Disney +.

Watching this review explained why I can remember virtually nothing about this movie.

The difference between the "patented Marvel humour" with Winter Solider was that the guy who invented that sort of humour, Joss Whedon (mastered long before his work on Marvel) is no longer overseeing the pacing and direction of these movies; between Avengers 1 and 2, Joss oversaw and co-wrote all of those movies to make them work with the tone he had in mind. Say what you will about the guy, but he absolutely knew how to craft a story, and when and how to balance the kind of humour that Marvel tries to continue without him to disastrous results (and many other movies that try to emulate this emulation, making it even worse); I' not saying Marvel needs to run out and grab Joss again, but they need to stop trying to bring something that they can't and find seasoned pros who know how to set their own masterpiece tones.

Black widow has no powers.. oh well she does have 1 actual power in real life. The fact that she is Scarlett Johansson and can hypnotize even gay men and straight women with her beauty.

I saw this last n8ght. Even 8f c9vid wasn't a thing, I don't think word of mouth would have pushed this movie anywhere near $1 billion. The Task-Master reveal was a waste of time.

There were so many ways to do this monie well so many interesting aspects of the character so much depth to explore. Opportunity wasted

Black widows' character, along with Hawkeye and Falcon, never sold me. They are regular humans with no powers, but they manage to do impossible things.

So the movie is a prequel... so we know there's no way she could die or even be injured as we know she must be alive for Endgame and she's already had her heroic death. The movie was doomed from the start, unless you introduce something early on like how she has a deathwish and doesn't care if she dies but another person is introduced who might die that BW has to protect. That's the only way this could work.

....such a waste of a solid character. Some of the comic series were fun and looked great, with good writing.

Why not just say it's garbage. You pay to watch a CGI cartoon? Why? I can't imagine watching this drek. How far our culture has fallen. Just compare it to a movie like Rocky. Back when movies had plots, acting, character development. It's sad.

You know Drinker, for someone who seems so educated, I'm disappointed. You speak about morality as if it's a real thing, when in fact it isn't. There's only one difference between good and evil/right and wrong, and it's an opinion.

This movie also suffered from reshoots (the bane of modern movies). Enough with the f*cking reshoots!

The movie was basically a backstory on a character whose backstory we already had a firm grasp on from moments of previous movies.

I will say that for a movie about a toy,
It’s very political.
I guess for those times it was. However when you go to a movie or sporting event you don’t expect politics. It sounds or seems better than Disney Films in terms of quality. Though so what? The bigger issue isn’t so much the messaging but rather coolnsolidation. It’s time to break up Hollywood.

A little late, but Natasha was a Terminator by mid movie. It should have shown why she was the best Black Widow. A tense spy movie with her assassinating various targets. Only time they even showed something remotely close was very beginning of movie where she outwits General Ross. There should have been a lot more of that, in my opinion.

Disney did Natasha dirty. It’s pathetic and insulting that they didn’t get around to making her movie until AFTER we see her die. A sorry attempt at a consolation prize that does anything but console. We’re getting all these movies with “sTrOnG fEmALe cHaRaCtErS” when we’ve had a genuinely strong, feminine female character for over ten years who could have given us an amazing female-lead film.

Black Widow got a reverse "Female Superhero" treatment..after being a strong sidekick to the other Avengers, she got a less-than- stellar origin movie.

Yeah...I fell asleep watching this unfortunate film at some point.

Also what they did to Task Master's Character was Beyond Criminal 😤

The plot of this movie is giving me a headache

it would've been so cool to see an actual "natasha perspective" movie from beginning of her story at the orphanage, to the end of her sacrifice (or maybe even a small funeral after the events of endgame). We got a tiny bit of the first part, but after that it was just a team gathering to take down the big bad, along with some fake family drama. Black widow was such an interesting character that always gave hints to her past through most all of the phase 1&2 movies she was in, but we ended up with near nothing to tell of it.

"If you're excited to see Red Guardian in this movie, prepare to have your hopes shat on!"

Nooo! What a wasted opportunity to say "prepare to have your expectations subverted"

at lest we get a grate meme out of it

Rachel Weisz's character just trotting off into the sun set with David the Red is such horseshit. She willingly mind controlled young women, I don't know how many but she did it for decades. She wasn't under duress or being blackmailed, she wasn't under some sort of smell based mind control, it was just what she did, willingly and of her own free will, probably for money, but I don't know maybe she just liked her work. How many Black Widow's die in the training process? 90%? Think how many girls that is that Melina watched die and just went on to the next one. They said only 1 in 10 Window's even make it through the training, and that's before they ripped out the uterus. As she's all smiles walking off into the sunset with David Harbour, just think about how fucking red her ledger is, not to mention the forced sterilization or the animal torture.

Great story for girls to look up to. 10/10. No notes.

Scarjo is pretty but she's a middling actor at best...and SW was always the second most boring and ridiculous character in the avengers...her power was...what exactly? Being a spy?

The Winter Soldier was definitely not a pointless movie in the MCU at all, it is one of the best. It was a well-written, well shot movie and one of the most incredibly important ones, setting up Captain America's crumbling faith in the government that would ultimately cause him to side against registration in Civil War, and put him at even more odds with Iron Man.

The fact that his little montage of Black Widow clips actually made me tear up a little. 😢

I’m a tremendous fan of American Prometheus, having fully digested this masterpiece 3 times now, and despite Matt Damon completely overreacting in the one clip I’ve seen, would you consider making this Nolan flick a topic for you to enlighten us on?

On one hand I’m so happy to see Nolan put his creativity behind this brilliant piece, but having witnessed that which is The Dark Knight Rises, I’m apprehensive in seeing the picture for fear he’ll turn it into ‘big bomb goes boom, I am become death!’

I sincerely hope for the former, but something nags at me to not go opening day and see how it plays out.

I was willing to give this movie a chance. I couldn't push myself over the first 10 minutes. I'm enjoying all the commentaries and reviews, though.
